Low Ovarian Reserve - IVF experience

Hello Everyone,

I'm 33 years old and have been trying to conceive for about a year and a half. I was diagnosed with 1.06 low ovarian reserve which is low for my age. They rushed me into IVF for two cycles in a row. first cycle was a total of 5 fertilized eggs and 1 embryo on the 5th day. The second cycle was a total of 12 fertilized eggs and 1 embryo on the 5th day.

The moment I got back the results I was in total shock, the more I searched about IVF's I found that most cases have as low as three or no fertilized egg. It took me as a shock as they said nothing wrong with me or my husband, but honestly, I was in a hurry to conceive.

I have transferred both in different periods, and both failed ...

I went to another Doctor/clinic that was knowen of his long experience and knowledge and he said from the first session based on all of my reports "You were overstimulated which affected the egg quality". I took a moment to digest and remembered that the previous clinic doubled the stimulation dose to get more follicles (450 in total).

Now, I'm gathering my strength for a new year and a new IVF journey with very low expectations. If anyone had the same struggle, I would highly appreciate sharing your experience and if any supplements can increase the ovarian reserve quality.

Just wanted to wish you good luck with your future treatments . Make sure have people around you for support and be sure to take advantage of the counselling appointments you should of been offered while on recent treatments Or take a look at British Infertility Counselling Association bica.net This is not a free service but they are all specially trained in counselling people with fertility issues

Take care

Thank you Janet 🌸 I was wondering if such service existed ...

Hiya, sorry this happened - I understand the shock! My history is slightly different, however my first two rounds I was over stimulated (according to new clinic) - I had a much better response 3rd round by lowering stims and changing stims drug, went from 1 embryo over 2 rounds to 6 (5 frozen) on my third - whilst I am still not pregnant, it has given me some hope. Wishing you all the best x

You just gave me hope girl ✨ I thought to my self that I will be stuck with same results post every retrieval. Specially that the Dr is recommending to do 2 ivf's in row. I hope next transfer works for you, just set your emotions on the relax mood as it really helps. last transfer I was sitting home doing nothing, had a positive faint line on 6dp5dt but then it dropped which I understand due to the over medication that I was described with.

Thank you 🫶🏻 I thought the exact same, I became so hopeless and expected rubbish results third time round. When they told me they got 18 eggs I was in total disbelief and then was SURE I’d have none make it to day 5, but we still had 11 going on day 4!! Sadly 5 stopped developing but unbelievably 6 went on to form blastocysts. Never in a million years did we see ourselves in that position.

So sorry you went through a chemical, it’s truly heartbreaking - but it’s definitely a sign to keep pushing on ♥️ and keep asking questions and getting opinions xxx lots of luck to you xx

Hi Elsidee11, may I ask you which drug and which dose did you take at your round 1 and 2? What did you change for your third round?have the same issue did two ivf stimulation with Fostimon and Meriofert and out of ten eggs got only one blastocytes at day 5.

Thank you

Hi Cvjv - sorry you’re struggling too. I changed quite a bit for my third round. I did two rounds on 375 Ovaleap (first round short protocol and second round long with Syneral down reg) and this didn’t work for me. So i took 600mg of ubiquinol for 4 months, and for my third round I down regulated with Buserelin and had 300 meriofert plus AOA. I am not sure what helped me exactly, but most likely the ubiquinol and change of drugs.

Some women react better to some medication than others. Or sometimes you can just have off cycles. I’m glad I tried again and changed things up. Even with lower stim dosage I yielded the highest number of eggs! First round I got 6 second I got 18. I know it’s not a one size fits all, but It’s amazing how things can change, I was even told by my first clinic not to repeat another round of ivf as I would just get the same results, she was very wrong.

Wishing you lots of luck xxx
