So I feel like I’m going nuts… I’ve had a verrry slight sore throat in the few days leading up to my 2nd FET. Nothing bad, I swear I had it leading up to my first FET in December (I was so worried about getting covid and it being cancelled). But of course both times it was not covid so have been chalking it up to stress.
I am now day 1 past transfer and my throat is starting to feel a lot more sore (glands aren’t big but I can see something in the back of my throat). I was getting bad hayfever before but have stopped antihistamines a few days before transfer but am getting worried that my body is having an immune reaction and that it might end up killing off the embryo? I have read online that it can be a thing….I’ve had 4 early losses and not actually done any immune testing before (that’s my next step if this doesn’t work) so obviously my mind is going into overdrive.
I’ve also got that feeling like I’ve got mouth ulcers on both sides of my mouth. Aside from a bit of tiredness (assuming from the progesterone) I am fine so no fever or body aches. I’m trying to be chill about it but obviously a sore throat is quite present and you can’t distract yourself from it very easily. Also trying to drink lots of water to flush any nasties out.
Has anyone else had this issue after a FET and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? Or alternatively has anyone gone through this and it ended in a chemical/miscarriage then go on to realise they had immune issues causing these things?
I’m only on progesterone and aspirin so can’t even blame the meds.
Sorry if this sounds nuts, I feel like this forum is quite good at hearing other women out when they are having a wobble! I’ve tried mentioning to family but they think I’m overthinking.
Thanks in advance

hey it’s probs a wee summer cold I have the exact same symptoms as you even down to the mouth ulcers as have a few people I know 😘 I’ve had a cold a few times during a FET and googled and googled cos I was afraid it might affect things and what I found was that it doesn’t change the outcome and in actual fact there was potential evidence that your body fighting off the cold can actually help it not fight off your embryo implanting (although not yet proven) so I’ve hung onto that to settle my mind and move on. Sounds like you are doing the right things to help the sore throat as well 🤗💜 lots of luck for the 2WW xx
ahh thank you, that really helps pt my mind at ease. It’s a weird one isn’t it, cos you don’t feel really sick or anything just a sore throat and mouth ulcers! Thank you for your kind words, I’ll just take it each day as it comes and hope this is the one xx💛
Hi! I had an infection in the run up to and during my last FET, was actually on antibiotics on the day and in the first week. My clinic said not to worry about it, I thought we were out before we even started. Currently pregnant from that transfer. Trust your body, it is designed to protect the little embie from colds and infections. As Twiglet2 says, there is some evidence to suggest that having something else going on could distract an overactive immune system. Very best of luck, I hope this is your sticky one!
oh really!! Interesting. Congrats on the success!! I wonder if the antibiotics helped? I have heard of people being given antibiotics during a FET before (for immune issues) and it working. Thanks for responding, it’s much appreciate. The 2WW is never easy is it😂
Thank you! The antibiotics were very narrow spectrum once for the specific infection I was having so I don't think they played any broader role but who knows. The TWW is torture, hang in there!
Hi Esb27, the 2WW is so hard and it’s normal and ok to worry about everything. I had two FETs where my body felt perfect and one ended in a chemical and the other in a negative. During my 2WW of the third FET I started to develop pain in my thyroid which sent me into total panic. Completely out of the blue, having never had issues before, I developed sub acute thyrodititis. But despite everything, the FET worked and I’m now holding my 10 weeks old baby girl 💕 who was determined to make it even though I had to be treated in hospital and doctors were worried on what medicines to give me. Sending you lots of love and luck 🍀
ahh congrats Habibi87!! Thyrodititis sounds horrible but really positive you had something you’ve never had before but still managed to get your little miracle! Thanks so much for the response and the love/luck, means a lot x
Hi! I tend to have sore throat and even get sick when nervous. I had 5 FET, the first 4 were negative. Then on FET number 5, I got my transfer and the next day I had a terrible fall and broke my foot and the following day I was covid positive. I felt awful, and I thought that with the fall and the illness it would be a negative (I mean, good and healthy was always negative so).... and it was my only positive. I think the only difference was that before I always followed the doctors instructions to continue walking and excersice and do my normal life... and this time I just had to sit down and relax and watch tv.
oh blimey!! That sounds like a nightmare, but so good you got a positive despite everything!! I know what you mean about the sore throat when stressed, I think that’s what happened to me last FET as well.
