I did FET this month and my HCG levels were low, with the 3th blood test showing a drop in hcg. Dr asked me to stop my meds and do hcg next Monday.I guess it is likely a chemical pregnancy.
I have never had a hcg level more than 5 before.
I knew the outcome is unlikely to be good.
But despite giving myself mental preparation, I am very sad.
Has anyone felt that way in similar situations and how did you cope with it?
Appreciate this group that allows me to talk to about IVF which I find difficult to talk to those who have not done IVF before.

HI Purple_skies. So sorry to hear this and hope you have plenty of support around you just now. This is one of the hardest things you will ever go through, so I hope your specialist can come up with different thoughts to hopefully help you. Do accept any offers of counselling if you get the chance so you can talk over your feelings. Thinking of you. Diane Partner
I am doing counselling now to help with it. I decided that I will read up for whatever scenarios that can occur during IVF so I have better mental preparation for it. This round I did not expect to see hcg of 27 so I was caught off guard. Thankfully I finally had my period so I can progress to next round of IVF. Thanks for your input, it makes me feel better.
Hi Purple Skies. I’m so very sorry to read what you’re going through. This fertility journey is brutal, and even those of of us who may think we are resilient can end up feeling like we’ve been run over. And then run over again.
I guess you just have to feel how you’re feeling and let out the emotions. It will get better and will hurt less, but at times things may hit you when you least expect.
It’s great that you’re doing counselling as talking to somebody can really help. Surround yourself with supportive people and positive things, and come back rested and mentally stronger for the next cycle.
Thank you sharing the experience. I thought I had mental preparation, but it still hit me badly.Already planning activities to occupy myself so I do not end up thinking about it all the time.
During my first transfer I cried very badly when it did not work out. Had bleeding before OTD so ended having to go to A and E to rule out pregnancy.
Thankfully I have this support group that allows me to understand the process better after reading input from others like me who are doing IVF.
