HCG rise slowing down a lot, how much of a problem is this?

I'm sorry I'm posting a lot, I'm just losing my mind.

Last week, my HCG was doubling in less than 48 hours. There was more than 150% increase in two days. But a week later, it took nearly 3 days to double.

While the numbers themselves are still in the range of "normal," there is a significant drop in the rate of increase, in just one week—from a day and a half to double, to nearly three days to double. It seems like a significant slowing down.

My doctor was so worried about this that he sent me to emergency to rule out an ectopic on Friday night.

Using the babymed calculator (babymed.com/tools/hcg-calcu..., I had convinced myself that I was fine, but then I realized that I miscalculated how many dpo I was, since this was FET. So instead of landing right on normal for what my numbers are now, there were a bit below normal. I mean, they still were in the "normal" range, but they fell below the red normal line. This was less reassuring.

But that chart only does 2 points, not 3, and doesn't take into account how much my rate has slowed.

Has anyone else had their rate slow down like this??

On Friday night I was convinced it was a miscarriage, but then yesterday I was convinced it was okay, and now I'm back to thinking it's a miscarriage.

I used to always think along the lines of "can I find the small chance that everything is okay???" And now I am much more likely to think that if there is a sign that it's not going well, it probably means it's all over.

These were my numbers:

12dp5dt = 309

14dp5dt = 785

21dp5dt = 4,457

my numbers were similar and also plateaued at around 5 weeks with a healthy, successful pregnancy. My doctor wasn’t the slightest bit concerned with those numbers so wondering why yours was? Wishing you the best.

Thank you. I'm glad yours turned out okay. He was so alarmed, it gave me quite a shock. I imagine he was worried because it was doubling so fast, and then slowed down significantly.

I know it’s so hard after loss, but please stay and try positive. Your numbers are rising well. X

The higher HCG gets the slower the doubling time. So it isn’t going to be constant. All that matters for now is each pair of points has a doubling time in the normal range. Your dates look the same as before, what are the new timings relative to ‘ovulation’? Xx

to be honest not many of us have more than one or two HCGs (I only had one) - in some ways I think you almost know too much. I know the rate of increase does slow down after a certain number of weeks, I also know it’s not supposed to be linear and everyone varies AND it’s supposed to be 48-72 hours not specifically 48. I saw your other post about the sac on the scan. My clinic and EPU wouldn’t scan me that early as the scans are never conclusive as too early to see anything. As a serial MC person myself I know it’s hard to believe it could work out ok, but it really can and does although I still can’t believe it did for me after 7 years. I think everything sounds positive for you and I am sorry your doctor scared you so much xx

My hcg numbers and progression were very similar to yours - HCG less than doubled in 72 hours between 17dp5dt and 20dp5dt. This was a successful issue free pregnancy. Please try to stay positive 😊

13dp5dt - 472

15dp5dt - 1118

17dp5dt - 1866

20dp5dt - 3418

Hey lovely, I'm so sorry you've been given such a scare. I personally think your hCG is on track and it does slow down as the days/weeks go by. Perhaps the Dr was maybe just being over cautious?! I saw your other post and it's completely normal with your hCG level to not see anything apart from a sac.....it all happens in such a short space of time but below 6wks is too early for more, however to rule out an ectopic is fabulous.....look for the positives so far!! I'm truly rooting for your little one and for the both of you!!!🤗💞xxx

HCG starts slowing down after it reaches a certain level. It's completely normal.
