HCG 16 by blood test 12dpt5dt

Hello,I had my first ivf treatment fresh transfer this month.

I tested on 26/05 (12 days post transfer of two 5 day blastocyst) as per clinic advices and got a faint positive. They sent me for a blood test the same day.

Just got the results and my hcg is 16 which they said is low and want to scan me on Friday 2nd June.

Has anyone experienced this and had any success? I'm in bits as would rather the bloods come back negative but knowing that I had/have a pregnancy is quite upsetting with it being low. Any advice greatly appreciated xx

Thank you Janet, I just don't know if 16 on hcg means anything and Google is not my friend as I don't understand what I'm reading or why it would be low or what it should be. I haven't had any other advice from the hospital...I'm a paying NHS patient so can't contact the clinic for advice as the hospital is my point of contact and they wouldn't tell me ... now I have to wait again after stewing all bank holiday weekend for blood work.... it's horrible xx

hi Sparklyone25 , I’m sorry it’s such a stressful time but try and hang in there for the scan. HCG levels rise at different rates. They can often learn quite a lot at the scan and I hope you will get some answers.

I had a BFP and then an empty sac with no embryo developing at 7 weeks which was devastating so I know how you feel when HCG is lower than I wanted.. but…. to take the positives.. the transfer window must have been ok, the uterine receptiveness was probably ok, just for me the embryo stopped developing. For me, the scan answered some questions I had after previous BFNs.

It’s still early for you so try and keep positive and busy until scan day. It’s sometimes helpful to jot down any questions you have to take with you to the scan. Sending positive thoughts 🥰🍀

Thank you kitkat10, unfortunately as of this eve I have begun to lose the pregnancy. I had to call the hosp and they advised it was too early for period as still on progesterone so confirmed i am having an early miscarriage. Absolutely devastated doesn't cover it. Would have been easier if I didn't get the positive bloods this morning x
