low Sperm Morphology/ count

Hey!

Following on from my last post about my partners low sperm count, we have now had a second follow up appointment with a doctor RE his Sperm Analysis and have had more details, which weren’t explained to us initially. Turns out it’s not just a low sperm count but also low Sperm Morphology (2%).

I have done lots of research.

Firstly, I am trying to be hopeful that a natural pregnancy is still possible, anyone had any experience of this, or stories of friends to give hope? We are going to implement lifestyle changes such as diet/ vitamins/ supplements/ exercise etc., with the aim or trying to improve his results. Does anyone have any other tips please?

Secondly, I’ve been looking at supplements, it’s a minefield of information. We’ve been taking Vitabiotics Pregnacare Conception for him/ her for the last year, before we knew we had some legitimate reasons for why we may not be having any success. So now we’re looking at supplements specifically aimed at improving Sperm Morphology & Low Sperm count. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I’m trying to be cautious about spending money on things that’s are questionable as we don’t have a lot of money. However I have seen Proxeed Men and was wondering if we should give this a go…? Anyone have any experience of this, or have any different suggestions. One issue I see is it says take between one and two sachets a day, which means if you take two a box only lasts 15 days! Which is very pricy.ohhh it’s all a lot to get to grips with.

Any advice or support would be greatfully received

Side note; gosh this process has been overwhelming and upsetting. I’ve been so emotional since getting the results and so worried. But we do now have a NHS referral for our first fertility consultation in June, so I’m going to try to keep myself together and implement the changes we can do in the meantime, but gosh it’s a struggle to remain positive and not let this become all consuming!

Thanks in advance X

Hi there,

I have been in similar situation and unfortunately no natural pregnancy for good few years. I have also been told that it may happen naturally but time wasn't on my side. I was 36 when we found this out. We went IVF ISCI route at age of 39 and got a beautiful baby girl at first go. For us it was just about selecting one of the good sperm under the microscope and inserting it directly into the egg.

It is great that you have your fertility appointment scheduled. If I were you I would try to get on the IVF list (not sure who long is the waiting time or how old are you) and in meantime you can try naturally.

It is great that today's medicine can address the problems like this but I wouldn't leave it for too long as some people had to do number of cycles before achieving the pregnancy.

Best of luck.

Hiya,

We were in a similar situation and vitamins really worked for us (we used the ones from Lambert's). We conceived naturally but it ended in an ectopic so we went for icsi in the end (currently 5 weeks pregnant so very early days).

My ethos is just to throw everything at it. My husband also stopped cycling because that doesn't help but I needed to do the IVF because I just couldn't face trying naturally after the ectopic.

Good luck!
