Has anyone ever used their progesterone pessaries during a normal/natural cycle to try and conceive?

Not saying this is something I would do but definitely am intrigued. I have lots of pessaries left and wondered if I just took them after normal ovulation and trying to conceive ‘naturally’ 🫠would offer any support. Trying to find ways to fall pregnant in between the wait time of getting results back and starting our third round😂bloody hell what a life ey!

I have had 3 recurrent miscarriages so was told by the miscarriage clinic to take progesterone pessaries when I had a positive test and I am now 13 weeks pregnant so as far as I am concerned it helped me.

So different then taking them after ovulation but thought I would tell you my experience. X

Hello Mlove, I also went to the recurrent miscarriage clinic and was prescribed progesterone for a naturally conceived pregnancy to take only after a viability scan done by the local EPAU. The nurses in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit of your hospital can also prescribe progesterone. You may find it useful to peruse the updated NICE guideline on giving progesterone to women with recurrent loss:

nice.org.uk/guidance/ng126/...

I know as part of IVF we are typically given luteal support in the form of progesterone no matter what, however it may be worth sharing a comment my last doctor in the recurrent miscarriage clinic made when he very reluctantly prescribed progesterone to me; he cautioned that it has not yet been researched sufficiently what impact high levels of progesterone exposure have on male infants in the long term. His view was that unless you fit the profile as per the NICE guidelines you ought to consider very carefully whether you actually need extra progesterone. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey! X
