Hi there. Feeling very conflicted as have had a positive pregnancy test today which I know makes me very fortunate but I have bled brown blood since my FET 2 weeks ago so pretty pessimistic about sustaining the pregnancy. It’s continuous when I wipe. The nurse at my clinic has said to continue taking lubion and cyclogest until my scan, had anyone else had this? Thanks

positive pregnancy test but continuous brown bleeding
I’m sorry you are having this too. I can’t promise anything or say that this is good or bad news but I had brown spotting from about 7ish dpt stopping just before my 8 week scan. I had a scan at 6 weeks too because I had a red bleed. Baby is fine and measuring ahead still at 20 weeks.
They never identified a reason. Just said “implantation bleeding”. Apparently spotting more common with Ivf.
Hope yours goes soon xx
thanks for this and so pleased your little one is doing well. Did they keep you on the progesterone protocol too? I don’t know if that’s what’s causing the bleeding…
I carried on with the progesterone and oestrogen until 12 weeks as told to by clinic. I didn’t have any bleeding with my first fet at all (which ended in miscarriage) so don’t think it was the meds. I’ve seen a few people say their bleeding was due to a tiny bleed in the womb or cervix being a a pest.
Mine literally just stopped out the blue! Hope yours does too!
Hi rainbow retrieval. I had this stopped after a week then came back at 7 weeks. Clinic put it down to implantation and the pessary irritation. My son is now 10 months old. Fingers crossed for you and the scan! X
Thanks Rain and congrats on your son! Getting a lot heavier and more red for me tonight, need a pad, so not sure the outcome will be positive for me now, but hopefully the thread will give other ladies in a similar position some reassurance with your story x
I can’t speak from personal experience but I’ve read a lot about small amounts of bleeds during the beginning of pregnancy. Brown blood denotes old blood so lots of people would say it’s okay, could be caused by the progesterone as well. Generally any brown blood people would say is okay. The thing is they won’t be able to tell anything until your scan because they just won’t be able to see anything. Difficult but you just have to sit with it. Hopefully all is fine and it’s just one of those things.
Thanks.. 3 weeks until scan. Just a bit nervous in case it’s an ectopic as has the hallmarks…x
I think you’d be likely to have cramps if ectopic. What are the hallmarks you’re seeing? If you’re 5 weeks plus at this point they might be able to see if there’s an egg sack in your womb and rule out an ectopic pregnancy. You could go to your local epu (which will be in your local hospital and they usually have a drop in service)
sorry to hear you are having bleeding after your positive test, not surprised you feel conflicted as I think when anyone sees blood it immediately makes them worry and think the worst. There can be many reasons for bleeding. From my experience I have had early bleeds with no positive result (I wasn’t even getting to test day before the bleeding would start) which I later found out was due to having low levels of progesterone so even with support it wasn’t enough and had I had more the outcome could have been different (obviously will never know) once this was picked up I then would never bleed before OTD whether I had a negative or positive test. I have very fortunately gone on to have 2 children, with one of the pregnancies I started bleeding around 8 weeks and this continued until around 12 weeks. Never given a reason but the doctor did say bleeding in pregnancy can be very common.
I am willing everything to be ok for you and I hope your pregnancy progresses. Might be worth asking them to test your progesterone levels as such a simple blood test and then that’s one thing that you won’t need to worry about. If your levels are low they can just increase the amount of medication.
Apologies for the long message!
thanks so much, may ask for a blood test x
