Bleeding after embryo transfer to positive test but low HCG increase

Following from my last post - the saga continues!

I was bleeding heavily the week of my OTD. From there I continued to bleed on and off for another 2 weeks. The pregnancy tests were initially getting fainter so we assumed a chemical pregnancy from the transfer.

Then I did a pregnancy test and it was a strong positive, which completely confused us, and the nursing team. They did a scan which showed a very small sac - definitely not from the transfer which would have been at the 8 week mark by this point. No signs of an ectopic pregnancy so the theory is that we have a spontaneous pregnancy.

We're scared to get excited yet, especially as HCG hasn't increased much and it's too early to show much on a scan. More bloods in 3 days and they've kindly offered an early scan at 7 weeks to see what's happening!

HCG on Wed pm - 260

HCG today (Fri) am - 320

HCG Mon am - 357 (called by docs that evening to confirm very likely nonviable pregnancy, further bloods needed to confirm decrease and early MC)

this is so tough. To be in limbo is so so frustrating and you’re neither here nor there. I wish there was a pregnancy guarantee - yes this pregnancy will work and this won’t and we get to know that right away, rather than the agonizing wait. sorry this was a rant but I was in your place 2 years ago and it was so tough. And then when it goes south to constantly pick up the pieces becomes exhausting. But I really hope you do okay.

Thank you! We thought the 2WW was hard, but adding another 4 weeks of uncertainty has definitely been a bit brutal. Here's hoping that the HCG jumps up on the Mon test! I hope you found success after the tough times!

Unfortunately the numbers haven't increased enough so it looks like a nonviable pregnancy. Thank you for your kind thoughts! Now looking onwards to the transfer date whenever that might be!
