Baby aspirin / other east ways to improve chances of implantation

Hello ladies,

I have my second FET on Tuesday and I’m having my normal pre transfer panic that I’m not doing enough.

I’ve previously had a chemical with a fresh transfer and BFN with a FET.

I’ve been reading about the benefits of baby aspirin at helping implantation. I’m planning on talking to my clinic, but I’d really appreciate your advice too.

Love to you all

Hi Poppy garden,I'm excited that you have your next FET on Tuesday. It's totally natural to feel like that before and I often felt like there was so little I could control about the outcome so wanted to do anything I could!

I was told to take 75mg aspirin after a blood result but think even without the result worth doing it if it causes no harm. The other things are around your wellbeing - things to help your mind and body over the next couple of weeks. Although just to reassure I had some very stressful days at work, ended up eating gluten even though am intolerant and that was the time it worked 🤷🏼‍♀️ So if all goes wrong hang in there still!

Wishing you the best of luck xx

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and the huge amount of reassurance you’ve given. Just out of interest what was the time period you were taking the aspirin? Really pleased to hear IVF has worked for you, I wish you all the very best. Xxx

Thank you - and you too 😊 I started the aspirin the day I started the estrogen so for my fet that was day 1. I would have continued through to test day and beyond but needed blood thinning injections so stopped the aspirin when started those. Good luck!

Hi Poppy, all the best for Tuesday. I didnt take aspirin but inhixia (which is also a blood thinner - but you inject it). I also had HCG infusion (directly to my womb) about 30 mins before transfer, which is meant to make your lining more receptive (i didn't do too much research into this, so not sure what the evidence base is). They suspected immune issues with me so i was also on steriods.

I am now 17 weeks pregnant. Not sure what worked - or whether it was just our time! Its all just a stab in the dark.

Thank you so much for your reply and insights. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy, I’m wishing you all the very best for it. I think your right about sometimes it just being the right time. Hopefully the stars align for me next week. Xxx

Hi Poppygarden. Yes, soluble aspirin or heparin can help to ensure good blood flow and prevent clot formation, so ask about that. Ladies also eat pineapple core which has the same effect apparently. Good luck! Diane

Thank you Diane. I will make sure I ask my clinic on Monday. :) I’ve been eating a lot of pineapple over the last week, so hopefully I’m ticking off that box too. Xxx

Hi Poppygarden, talk to your clinic and see what they say. I took baby aspirin with my last FET because I was advised by my clinic that it wouldn't hurt. It turned out it could because it substantially increases the risk of subchorionic hematoma. 9 weeks now but I wish someone had warned me about this risk because sudden heavy bleeds in early pregnancy are no fun. It's all a balancing exercise. Good luck!

Thank you! The midwife who scanned me said specifically that these are quite common in ladies who take aspirin in the first 12 weeks. Apparently this is why aspirin is used for medical purposes only after that. For what it's worth I think the success or failure of a transfer is mostly down to the quality of the embryo, so if it's the right embie, it will work. Good luck!

hi and good luck with the transfer. Just wanted to share my experience with blood thinners. Like you I wanted to make it possible for a success, however the professor in recurrent miscarriage told me not to take aspirin, unless there is a reason as it may interfere with implantation. She put me on Clexane after positive pregnancy test and she tests TEG parameters before being pregnant and after pregnancy and it turns out my parameters were ok even after pregnant, so she said I have no indication I need aspirin. It is best to talk to your clinic.

thank you for sharing your experience. It is really hard to know what things to do at times to make a cycle different. All the very best with your journey too xxx

you are very welcome! I forgot to mention that I also did the whole Thrombophillia panel test for Factor V leiden, Prothrombin, PAI, MTHFR etc. and I had 3 of them as anomalies - PAI 4G/5G, MTHFR and ACE, and based on that I was given Clexane as a preventative measure. If however you have one of the real thrombophillia factors like Factor V Leiden etc, I am sure you will be given a combination of Aspirin and Clexane. I have friends who are one of these cases. My point is, unless you have the test results, you wouldn’t know and Aspirin is not something to be taken just in case. You need to have a reason. That’s my understanding so far. Some tests I did abroad as here are not common but the recurrent miscarriage clinic does them.

I was told by my consultant that you don't use baby aspirin until after implantation as it can stop implantation from happening and I understand that baby aspirin is used as a tool to try to prevent miscarriage in the first trimester rather than being something that aids implantation. I would def speak to your consultant about it. There may be other things you could have if you have implantation issues. There are definitely tests it would be worth having before going ahead with an FET if you seem to have implantation issues e.g. thrombotic risk profile test, NK Cells, Emma/Alice, ERA etc. All the best with it all xx

Thank you for sharing your experience. Yep If this round doesn’t go ahead positively I have a large list of things I’m going to do next. Nk cells are at the top of the list. All the best with your journey xxx
