FET Any Advice please

Hi- I have my FET tomorrow (nervous and excited) and I just wanted to get any tips of what to wear, what to bring, anything like that please.

I’ve also read mixed things about if you should keep your abdomen area warm before/after.

TIA x

Exciting times! To be honest I didn't take anything with me and just wore some comfy clothes so that it was easy to get your bottom half off and you were able to relax on the way there and back. Its normally a really quick procedure - bit like a smear test - so you shouldn't be there long!

There are various schools of thought about keeping your uterus warm but that generally means don't get cold feet rather than using hot water bottles or anything that can have a negative impact. I always made sure I had McDonalds chips afterwards but thats probably an old wives tale (and I love a Maccas so it was a nice excuse!). Some people eat pineapple core and Brazil nuts for a few days too but again I am not sure thats founded on any evidence!

Some transfers I went home and went to bed etc., but the most successful one I had we actually went shopping after transfer in London! And so far it's worked! Do what feels right for you but they do say not to go on complete bed rest as gentle exercise is good for the blood flow to the uterus.

Good luck x

do you know if there’s anything else you should or shouldn’t eat!? X

You should just eat as if you were pregnant from transfer, so no raw fish, make sure all meat is well cooked, no alcohol etc. I always try to bulk up on good fats and anti-oxidants like avocado, blueberries etc. I always get really constipated so lots of fibre helps too! x

Hi Daisy-Delilah. Good to hear you are to have a transfer tomorrow. It shouldn't take too long, so make sure you wear loose fitting clothes, so you can undress and dress quickly. Keep warm and lots of ladies eat pineapple core during this time. Hope all goes well and good luck! Diane

My top tip is wear a pair of lucky socks that will cheer you up :) I went to Nando's afterwards for some chicken and fries (not the biggest fan of MacDonalds). Good luck!

I know it sounds weird, but enjoy it! I expected it to be really clinical and I was surprised by how emotional my husband and I both were to finally see our embryo in place. And relax, gentle exercise. The other thing my consultant told me was to stop any extra supplements and probiotics after FET - just pregnancy friendly vitamins.

As advised for EC, I would also avoid wearing any perfume/deodorant during your FET as well as embryos are highly sensitive - just best to be on the safe side :)

Others have already mentioned but keep your feet warm with a nice pair of fluffy socks for the FET and the TWW.

Best of luck to you for your FET, sending you lots of sticky vibes! xx

Thanks to you all for your advice. Everything seemed to go well and first embie thawed well.

I’m totally stressing now though as I had to get the train home and I ended up having to do a light run to catch it. The nurse said it was fine to carry on as normal but I’m totally beating myself up over it and just hoping it hasn’t caused any damage 🙁
