Hi Ladies

I’m just wondering if any of you had bad acne on progesterone and steroids after your BFP. It’s worse than when I was a teenager, any advise or recommendations to calm it down would be greatly appreciated

Hi Candlewax, acne is very common in pregnancy due to all the hormone changes going on in our bodies. I never really got many spots as a teenager but had loads of spots on back and face until around 16 weeks then they just all disappeared. Drinking plenty of water can help and washing skin in a gentle cleanser. But if its really bad speak to your GP they may prescribe an antibiotic called erythromycin for you x

I’m dealing with bad hormonal acne along jaw and chin. I was wondering if it was from the progesterone (vaginally and injecting)??? But also wondering if it’s from the nutty nuts I’ve been consuming by the handfuls. Or the yogurt I was eating to build good bacteria…. Not sure, guess I have to ditch the nuts now too.

But, I read that benzoyl peroxide is the treat for it. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️🙆🏻‍♀️

why do you have to ditch the nuts?? Mine is the same jawline and neck rather than centre of face. I’ve always used benzoyl peroxide in the past but I stopped using it because I wasn’t sure it was safe in pregnancy. Will have to pop to pharmacy and check x

I had this on my last FET and it’s just horrible isn’t it. As if we don’t have enough to contend with at the time!

I have naturally very sensitive/dry skin so never had acne as a teenager so had no idea how to deal with it. My dr prescribed duac gel. It says safety is unknown in pregnancy but she said both active ingredients are fine it’s just not been tested on pregnant women like most medication. I’d agree with the above post though - to be on the same side I’d try benzoyl peroxide first x

I don’t want to moan after 4 years of trying to get pregnant 🫣 just feels like another annoyance that comes with all these drugs. When I had my daughter naturally my skin was the clearest it’s ever been so I know it’s not the pregnancy hormones doing this I think it’s defo the steroids and progesterone 💉
