urgent advice needed on IVF drugs

hey all

I’ve just paid through the nose for a private prescription only to be told by Asda that they now don’t have some of the items in stock. They are unable to issue some of the drugs because they have to keep the prescription for their records. Meaning I’d need to pay for another private prescription. Can anyone recommend any other cheaper online pharmacy’s or options?

Many thanks all. Xx

thanks for your response, ours uses them too. Looks like I might have just paid £150 extra getting a useless prescription. 🤦‍♀️

The fertility medication centre. They are a non profit organisation and by far the cheapest.

if you’ve paid for everything they should honour it. When I ordered from Asda they checked first that they could get everything and then had to pay in advance to process it. I’d speak to your clinic but not sure if they’ll give you another prescription. Good luck with it.

thank you. They’d quoted me and told me everything would take 3/4 days literally the next day they said it was out of stock at the supplier 🤦‍♀️ As If we need these dramas on top of everything else right 😂

Hi there,

I’ve used the fertility medication centre for most of my cycles and they have been great. Pretty sure they’ve always been the cheapest for what I’ve needed.

Hope you get this sorted soon!

Hi, we use Pharmasure. Not sure about your specific query but I get the impression it’s a small customer care team and they have always been so lovely and helpful to deal with. It could be worth giving them a quick ring to see if they can help. Xx

if the prescription is not dispensed they will give you it back. Just ask.

thank you. I have the prescription just not convinced I’ll now save any money/time organising it myself sadly

They need to refund you and let you get your prescription elsewhere. I would ring round a few places and find out if they have your drugs in stock first

thanks everyone for your help. I’ve had a very good experience with the fertility medication centre so thanks to Elmo for suggesting this and to all of you for your advice. Drugs will arrive tomorrow in time! All in all I’ve saved about £16 🤦‍♀️ But learnt a lot about Asda and costs. Once you factor in private prescription costs the savings are basically minimal so probably worth just going with my clinic from here on in. Thanks all.

This thread is very helplful. Thank you. I'm waiting for my clinic to send me the list of meds I need and was going to do a cost comparison vs getting it myself via i.e. Asda or the Fertility Medication centre. Hope your treatment is going well! (it's quite a lot organising every little detail 😲 but needs must)🙌

good luck with it all. Asda is very cheap and in an ideal world the best Option, but they won’t order anything without the prescription. That was my downfall, I mistakenly thought an in theory quote would mean in stock the next day when I went in with the paperwork and by that point the drugs were out of stock. Would defo recommend going in store and discussing order times with your prescription. Hoping you can save some pennies xx
