Hi there, I have been following these forums for many years but kinda of hid in the back ground. Yesterday I received a positive beta 14 days following a 5 day blastocyst transfer. I have had 2 previous failed rounds of IVF. They said my beta was a good result and they think its viable. I was really excited yesterday, i have never experienced a positive test in 5, nearly 6 years. But i am 42, nearly 43, I chose not to test the embroyos, it wasn't really recommended to me. Iy was graded as 'fair', thats all that was said. This is my last chance, we are skint and I can't do it anymore, i found this medicated round really tough. I don't know how to feel, i wasn't anxious before but now i am, emotional also. I have an early scan booked in for week 7. How do people cope with this following a positive test? Plus lots of family/friends know because we did ivf and i want this to work for them too, they are so happy to hear this first bit of news.

*Sensitive post. 3rd and final round of IVF, aged 42. Just received first positive pregnancy test ever and i am delighted but so scared.
Aw wow, congratulations on your positive test! How wonderful! I'm sure its hard not to get anxious but today is a great day and hopefully time flies for your scan! Wishing you a lovely and uneventful pregnancy xxx
Hi Starfire, congratulations on your positive test. I can so relate to this. I was almost 44 when I had a successful IVF round. My embryos were never tested.
All you can do is take one day at a time with as much positivity as you can manage. With time your anxiety will get better or you get better at managing it.
Hopefully you will be able to tick each milestone off as they come. All the best with your pregnancy x
Congratulations! I'm 43 and 8 weeks pregnant. I live in Germany where they don't test the embryos so in week 12 I'll have to get a harmony test. Anyway, take it day by day. Enjoy the moment and look after yourself. Xx
wooooohooooo amazing news absolutely delighted for you! The worry never ends does it 🙈🤗 but just take it one step at a time for now you are pregnant hopefully Christmas will distract you a bit but it’s defo going the about finding things to do and ways to distract yourself, whilst also resting as you will likely be a bit tired now your body is busy growing a human lol hook g the next few weeks pass quickly for you xx
reading your story is like reading my own! After 16 years, 2 failed rounds and I’m 43 in January, I finally got a positive test! I’m now 32 weeks. I’m finding pregnancy really hard actually, I’ve had so many scans to try ease the anxiety, I’m finding it hard to bond with the baby (do people do this while pregnant??) because I still don’t feel it’s real even though I can see him and feel him wriggling around in there. And I’m so unprepared because I’m still too scared almost to buy anything just in case. So to answer your question, from my experience my advice is just take one step at a time, make sure you keep talking to people, and do whatever you need to do to try and ease the anxiety. Because it’s so hard.
Massive congratulations to you and I have my fingers crossed you have a smooth eventless pregnancy x
Thank you so much. Wow, your story is amazing, 32 weeks!!! Congratulations!! I totally understand your anxiety tho. You are so close, that is amazing. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy. 💞💞
Thank you so much everyone, it really helps hearing positive stories of people my age. I will try to keep positive, and stop googling stuff. Its like you try to protect yourself by not be really really happy. As you all say I have to take each day as it comes. Thank you so much. 💓
Massive congratulations Starfire! Try to enjoy this time. Remember, every day that passes the odds get better and many many women your age have healthy pregnancies! There's no reason to think things will go wrong, so try to think positively and take it step by step, aiming for each milestone as it comes xx
Fantastic news! Totally get the angst surrounding it, but this is an awesome result. Enjoy! And then take each day as it comes. xxx
