First cycle timing with delayed ovulation

Hi all, I hope you are all keeping well and warm!

Feeling a little stressed about logistics of first icsi cycle and needing some good vibes

I'm entering the final couple of weeks prior to starting my first ivf cycle and starting to feel a bit anxious because my usual ovulation timing is delayed. I've just recovered from a cold virus which has thrown my ovulation timing out. I wouldn't normally worry, but it does mean that my period is likely to fall very close to Christmas, meaning my day 3 scan before stimulation might fall on Christmas day. The clinic advised me that if this were to happen I'd have the scan on day 2 instead.

Has anyone had to do a day 2 scan and did it affect stimulation at all?

I'm also a bit frustrated because I have just started self-isolating and working from home in preparation and it seems I've started too early. Already going a bit crazy and feeling very guilty for not being client facing at work and what my colleague s might think.

Sorry for the rant, I'm not really handling this too well...so many factors to juggle...Covid, Christmas, winter bugs, mischievous cycles 😟...and I haven't even started yet..How do you lovely ladies do it? Xx

Hi Minnie mouse! I wouldn't worry, I think the baseline scan is just to check your follicle count and exclude any cysts etc before they start stims. Unlikely to be affected by the day it's done. At my clinic the scan is done on Day 2-5.First stim cycle is scary but I actually found it all ok, felt quite bloated by the end but it wasn't nearly as traumatic as I feared, hopefully will be the same for you 🤞

Thank you! That's super helpful and reassuring. I suddenly felt really overwhelmed with the idea of it all but glad it was ok for you 😊

Minniemouse88 just wanted to reiterate exactly what HedgehogMad said as my experience was exactly the same. I wouldn’t worry about timings etc as the clinics readjust and if anything is a major issue they would let u know. You do have to go with the flow a bit and (I know it’s not easy!) but try and relax and do things to occupy your mind. I don’t know if that helps! X

My clinic does the opposite to yours in that their general rule is to scan on Day 2 for baseline and only on Day 3 if the Day 2 falls on a day they are closed. It actually reassures me that Day 3 is normal for some clinics! I hope you can be reassured too xx

my clinic is day 2 or 3 (I’ve had both and it never made a difference) so you should be fine 🤗 wishing you lots and lots of luck xx
