the hfea website has detailed stats of clinic success rates throughout the uk which are helpful to decide if the clinics success rate is good/ consistent with national averages.

I think clinic success rates from reports from others are hard to judge because people either say how wonderful their clinic is if they have a baby, or how awful when things go badly wrong.

All clinics claim to be the best. Some clinics are better at different issues though, which they usually say on their websites.

Some clinics only accept straight forward cases especially in the UK so I wouldn't solely rely on hfea either.

It depends what you mean by top. Some clinics achieve higher results than others by refusing to let older women or women with AMH below a certain level do IVF through them. Understandably a clinic which let's older women and those with low AMH still do IVF will have stats that suggest they are not as good as the other clinics but really it has nothing to do with the standard of care or ability of their consultants or embryologists. So while looking at the stats may help, it is worth asking any clinics you are interested in what their stance is in relation to people with low AMH e.g. whether they have a cut off etc, to get a better idea of what is sitting behind those results!

Agree with others re success rates - hard to judge without knowing the caseload.

Things to look for in a good clinic are ones who will individualise every aspect of your protocol and take the time to consider your personal history in detail. Also the level of service varies quite a bit. I found the lack of being able to talk to my consultant at any time other than a review appointment after a failed round or literally at egg collection not only frustrating but also very nearly hampering of success - I had to have my medications changed rapidly on the fly just after egg collection because I had not been able to talk to the consultant until that time. Even then after egg collection the communication was with a nurse who had to keep going back to talk to the consultant then come back to me - I had two 5 minute talks with the doc at EC and that was it, and it seemed only at that time did she stop to think about what meds she was giving me and then changed them. xx

I thought TOPIVFdotnet was really helpful when I was looking for clinics (and even just validating my own opinions about the clinics I've gone to, also!). But, I somehow ended up over there today despite the fact that I have no interest in changing clinics and noticed that they have a lot of articles and resources

So I'm sharing. Many of you are already familiar with TOPIVF, but if you aren't, you should know about it as a resource not only for finding an RE in the United States, but just general information regardless of where you are. For newbies and veterans.
