Help please, criteria to pick the right clinic?

I’ve met with 2 clinics and I am still unsure which one to select and would love to hear other peoples experiences. I can’t mention clinic name so will refer to them as Clinic A and Clinic B.

Clinic A - used to freeze my eggs 7 years ago, was a good experience and had one consultant who saw me throughout. I did feel that it took him 3 cycles to work out best protocol to harvest eggs. Was also available for questions and help. All prices up front, does not try to sell ads ons and not really a sales person.

Clinic B - very good reputation for success rates with fresh eggs but mine are frozen, some people have written that they do lots of tests, some debatably unnecessary, have been known to push add ons. One medical director makes decision and you see different consultants all the time. Base prices upfront but may increase as you go through treatment. I looked into them due to their reputation.

In terms of distance both clinics are about the same. I suspect clinic B will be more expensive just waiting on final costs.

I thought by meeting both I would have a better idea but feel confused as to which one would be the right choice. Just want to know the criteria that you may have used to make your decision. Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi lovely, I would check out the HFEA advice and ratings for the two clinics here: hfea.gov.uk/choose-a-clinic/It seems to me that as long as a clinic has a success rate consistent with the national average it is mainly how they treat you as a patient, whether you feel respected, able to ask questions and ease of access to the team. We chose ours based on recommendations from friends and are considering looking at another if we need a new fresh cycle, just for a change - but then again, sometimes it's best to stay with a clinic you know is good!

I had this feeling it was weird I went into a few clinics and when I met one of the doctors I just said … her I just knew. Having the same doctor the whole way through (5years) was important to me. I feel like she knew my body completely xxx

I think I am now with your clinic B, I am guessing it’s that one 😊.

I left my previous because I was a number to the consultant/doctor and felt like a ticking box exercise for a year while doing embryo batching . I have the feeling that he didn’t believe that it could happen with me so after the first BFN from a PGS tested embryo, I was left with one more frozen similar embryo. And decided to try with a fresh transfer in clinic B which resulted in chemical. It’s not great news but at least feels closer to our aim. So I decided to move the frozen embryo to clinic B and at the end of this week we have the next FET with them.

I would say depends on your age, FSH, attempts of fresh and frozen transfer and their outcomes, the doctor which consults you, and your financial possibility.

For me due to age, it was- I want to try the fresh transfer before I would consider egg donor route. As well because of a really interesting attitude and conversation I had with the doctor at clinic B after the chemical pregnancy, which was a completely opposite to the previous doctor.

I am not sure I helped much or made it worse for you, but I think it’s important to trust your gut feeling which often is guided by experience.

Pls let me know if more info is needed, I would be happy to give more details if needed. Fingers crossed with whatever you decide xoxoxo
