Choosing the right clinic

Hi

My husband and I have been TTC for 5.5 years now. We have had one IVF treatment to date, which unfortunately, was unsuccessful. We are now looking into the possibility of paying for our treatment as I am really struggling to reach NHS BMI target. Now, I realise that clinics will have their own targets, but hoping they will be a bit more flexible.

I am in Redditch, Worcestershire and was wondering if anyone could recommend a clinic / consultant they have used. I have had a google of local clinics, and it's a bit of minefield of information. Given we are going to be spending such a lot of money, I want to make sure we make the right decision.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Hi CLammas26. If anyone answers this post with any ideas, please do so by private message, as it is considered to be adverising if you mention a specific clinic. meanwhile have you had a look at the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority site hfea.gov.uk for their guidance? Good luck with it all, and I hope you soon find a clinic to suit you. Diane

Apologies, Diane, I hadn't realised the posting rules. I have tried the hfea website this morning, but keep getting error messages when searching for nearby clinics. I'll try again tomorrow. Thank you

Hi CLammas26. No problem. However, do try the HFEA site again. They've recently updated the site, so maybe having a few hiccups. Good luck! Diane

In case if you consider not to spend "such a lot of money" you could always choose abroad options.

P.S.: if you still wish to choose smth nearby - just search for success rates of that clinics (on their sites or via phone).

Good reputation is not hidden.

So you`ll be able to choose between them and take the best.

Sorry about that, we've been trying to conceive lots of time but with no result. My case is a bit different form yours but it has no matter right now. The one thing I want to tell is keep trying. I don't know much about your local clinic but I suppose you should extend your reach circle. You could browse other clinics there or take a look onto clinics abroad. It could also work as lots of clinics there afford their treatments for lower prices. Good luck with whatever you choose

Thank you all for your replies.

At the moment, we're not exploring clinics abroad. It is not something we would rule out completely, but would like to try a clinic in the UK first.

Alice_W123 - Thank you for the tip, I'll be sure to look out for that info x

Hi there! sorry to hear about your losses and good to hear that your husband is supportive and that you both are determined to have it done. I will share with you my story and recommendations. My wife had surrogacy about 2 years ago and now we have a beautiful princess. I am 35 now and we are married for 7 years. Started trying after 4 years of getting married because both were working and my wife just had started her career and didn’t wanted children at that time, but later thought that why we delayed. It is really depressing to know that you can’t bear children, I can understand how you must be feeling. We had 6 failed IVF attempts and then finally considered surrogacy. To start with my doctors and friends recommended many clinics in Ukraine, India... I live in Bratislava so considered Ukraine for surrogacy. We did our extensive research on the internet and listed out some clinics in Ukraine and then again researched their websites and discussed it on some forums and got positive answers. There were couples from all over the world. They pay for the transport, accommodation and meals. The treatment cost is all inclusive. Many people are going or have done surrogacy in this clinic and I am one of them, if you want more info please message me. Hope that helps you.
