Confusing price lists for london clinics - can anyone help guide me pls

Hi All,

I started looking at local london clinics to where i live and have shortlisted 6/7 based on success factor for 40 age group. But pricing is just so confusing in trying to compare like for like.

Some say there is one published price then the docs put all these add-ons and its hard to know the real price. I have shortlisted the below:

1. Crgh

2. London womens clinic

3. Care

4. Evewell

5. Kings

6. Create

7. Argh - heard they do lots of unnecessary tests and very expensive so thinking of dropping this one from my list.

If anyone has had any experience in any of these london clinics, pls pls drop me a msg of your experience and which doctor you saw.

Many thanks.

I was with me 6 but not the London branch.

It’s best to speak to them to get a mock up invoice including the add ins they recommend but you’d need to have had your consultation for that.

My mild IVF with ICSI was around £8k with them and the 3 cycle package I did with ICSI, support pack abs all drugs was £13.5k all in

The last one on your list is veeery expensive - a single round can cost £20k plus

Thank you... haha i knew they were expensive but £20kkk... they are now off my list, down to 6! 3 cycle packages sound good more value for money.

Hey hun sorry to jump in. Attended a webinar for nr 6 and they are very against transferring two embryos. @ivfgotadream did they agree to transfer two for you? X x x

Thanks for your response mimisami. I joined their webinar too once but i dont think they treat enough women in my age range. Which clinic did you go with in th end? My main issue is age, low ovarian reserve and poor responder.

How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? If you are over 40 then nr 6 has the best success rates for that age group and specialise in low AMH

Yes 40.

Hi yes they agreed to two fairly easily for me.....BUT it was due to the following

- I’d done 5 egg collections with the same clinic

- I’d had 3 previous failed transfers with them

- I’d already lost both tubes to ectopic pregnancies (IVF and double transfers especially increase the risk of having one)

- I was fit and healthy (although found twin pregnancy brutal and touch and go for all 3 of us at the end)

- I was 37

- I’d spent £35k with them at that point and we were out of money for single transfers and the doctors knew that I was ready to move on with my life - I wanted to do 2 double transfers If needed and get them over with in a couple of months rather than 4 individual transfers which might take up most of the year

- I PGS tested on the previous egg collection and didn’t get any normals so the supposed chance of both sticking was apparently super low 🤣

- I agreed not to transfer AA grade blastocysts together (I transferred a 5BA and a day 6 4BB - my 2 other better quality AA blastocysts are still frozen!)

I don’t think it’s very easy to get a double transfer if you are new to the clinic and if you are under 37 and it’s your first cycle for example

You have been through so much 😘 not to mention all the emotions and expenses!!! Im so glad you got twins at the end of it. Im so worried being so late in the journey at 40.

in reply to Ivfgotadream

That completely explains why they would agree to it. Thank you so much for taking the time! X

Like you I explored a number of IVF clinics and 3 of the 6 you shortlisted were on my shortlist. I even had initial consultations with CRGH, Create and Kings. If price is a predominant factor like it was with me, then Kings is the best value. I have also been pretty happy with their service.

One of the biggest lessons on this journey is that any costs on websites is just the base costs. There are always additional costs eg Covid tests. When I got the actual quotations, Kings was the closest to the prices advertised on their website. I also did not have add ons like dummy embryo transfers included as standard. Some clinics do this.

I personally paid for initial consultations to not just go with price only. I also wanted to be happy with their treatment plan as I had previously had a previously failed IVF attempt.

Good luck and I am sure you will make the right decision.

JoyfulStar thank you so much for your note. Very helpful. I am also tilting on the same 3 you mentioned plus london womens clinic which have a 2 cycle package which includes pgs testing for £10.5k and £7.5k excluding it. I shortlisted first based on success factor for 40-42 age range, then location nearest to me and now down to costs and keeping it low without compromising the outcome.

Also, Im not sure how much PGS testing would help me as i only got 2 eggs retrieved in my last 2 cycles. And i also dont want to do a consult with every clinic, only 2 clinics.

Its all abit exploitative.

I am 40 and want to do embryo batching so freeze all cycles. But it also means im wasting valuable time if i still dont respond to the drugs. Honestly its all getting abit much trying to decide.

Btw if you dont mind me asking, how old are you and did you get success with kings? xx

You are v. welcome and so glad I can help. The world of IVF is a minefield with so much to consider so I hear you!

I am 43 years of age but still hopeful for a good outcome regardless of my age. Like you, I am doing embryo batching and in the middle of a 3 cycle package with Kings. I am about to start round 2.

My first cycle with Kings resulted in 2 day 5 blastocysts currently on ice which is a better outcome than my first IVF attempt with another clinic where I had more eggs retrieved.

Considering I am older, I am very happy with this. Obviously, I don’t know what the eventual outcome will be but I am feeling really positive about this. .

Please be aware that my AMH and follicle count is quite good for my age. My main issue is obviously the quality of embryos. CRGH and Kings were definitely my top 2! I never explored London Women’s clinic so cannot comment on them. They both proposed very similar treatment plans but Kings did not recommend PGS testing whilst CRGH did. That spoke to me more.

With so few embryos to play with, I could not bring myself to be ruthless and not at least have a go at another embryo transfer as heartbreaking as it was the first time I had a negative outcome. Not to talk of the costs! It was not an easy decision and I took my time making it even with the clock ticking! There were a couple of other personal reasons that made me go with Kings so for me, although I shelled out more money for initial consultations, it was the right thing to do. It was worth paying that extra £1,000 to hear what the consultants had to say about my particular circumstances and how they propose to give me the best chance of success.

I hope it all goes well. Let me know which clinic you end up choosing!

JoyfulStar that is so insightful. Im glad you are continuing to try and hope this is your time. Lots of positive energy your way.

I have low amh 5.1, and poor responder to drugs so i know i wont get many eggs but im not ready to give up yet. Im down to kings, crgh, create, london womens clinic. Really struggling but keen to get going and starting my next cycle.

I am with Number 5 and just turned 40 my amh is ok. The pricing is close to what they advertise on their website and am happy with the service so far. I am currently halfway through second cycle and am finding it more tailored to me unlike the first one - l guess they have learnt a lot about me in my first cycle.

HI kudz, thank you for your feedback. May i ask, do kings do mild stimulation cycles if i need that and also do they let people use pergoveris as stim?

Lioness-icsi profile image
Lioness-icsi in reply to joey81

They have a 3 package cycle for fresh or freeze which is on their website - l am doing one cycle at a time. Don’t know much about medication other than that l use menopur for my stims

Ps: are you embryo batching? Im considering their freeze all cycle

I’m with number 4. So happy with this clinic. They’re so thorough. High quality care. There haven’t been any hidden costs as such.

The drugs have been more expensive than we expected but that was due to being on low dose growth hormone to help egg quality & numbers. Plus stimming for 13 days.

We were due to start our cycle in Jan but it was deferred a month as things weren’t right on my baseline scan. They adjusted my protocol and I started in Feb. Had egg collection last week.

The main add on is if you want to PGS test.

I can’t recommend this clinic highly enough and we’ve been with 2 previous clinics (one NHS in London and another outside London but all procedures done at Kings Fertility)

There is an element of getting what you pay for.

An expensive but high quality cycle is so much better than 2-3 poor cycles.

I really regret going with our previous clinic as the protocol was so wrong for me

Hi JenRoy, thanks so much for responding. I have a hunch to go with E also based on what another person wrote on here who also has low ovarian reserve and my age too. I am a poor responder too. I have not yet heard any other clinic using growth hormone yet. Have you had a better response at E? Its the most expensive in my short list so am looking for an objective reason to go with them given its a new clinic and also no success factors to share.

Are you able to tell me why you ended up choosing E over the others? You can DM if you prefer. Fingers crossed it goes well for you this time xx

Hi JenRoy , I’m also thinking of using number 4 after 3 failed attempts. We just had our consultation with them and found the very good. The really did a thorough ultrasound, which included talking my husband and I through everything she could see with my ovaries, Fallopian tubes etc, which I have never had during this 7 year journey! I am now 42! Would you mind sending me a private message about your experience so far, including costs etc? It would be so helpful

Could I ask why you haven’t thought about Zita West? I have been told there is a specialist there who deals with women over 40.

I’d be grateful of any input on this place and it’s costing.

Thanks!
