OTD confusion

Reaching out for advice again if you can? My OTD after treatment in Spain is Friday (day 10) and they'd like a blood test. The GP has said the results are likely to be Tuesday. I am wondering if it is better to get a blood test Thursday with the hope that the results would be in Friday or should I stick with Friday or the third option is to wait until day 14 and do a home pregnancy like I've always done in the past. This is the first time I've been asked to get a blood test. I am concerned with the delay in getting results over the weekend I might miss an opportunity to up progesterone maybe? I feel a little confused as I've never been asked to get a blood test before. I have also never tested early, when is the earliest a first response would be accurate after a FET?

Thanks everyone x

Hey there. First of all good luck and I hope you get positive result.

Try connecting your NHS account if you have one with this page

patientsknowbest.com/register/

Once you are registered when you have a blood test and they enter the results into the system you'll get an email saying that your record has been updated and you can check your blood test results online. Most times the results are entered into the system the same day, it's quite handy to have registration here xx

where abouts are you based? If you're near London there are a few same day options.

Regarding when FRER is accurate, many women get faint positives from day 5 or 6 post 5 day transfer. But you could have a late implanter and not get a positive until later.

Best of luck

I am in the northwest, I am looking at medichecks and contacting my previous UK clinic to see if they can help thanks

I’d say FRER had always been accurate for me at day 8 so you can use that over the weekend of you need to wait for the day 10 blood results. Alternatively there might be some private clinics near you that do same day results xx

I caved and did one today day 7 of course negative. I've never tested early before but I'm reading so often of positive results after only five days I think if it'd worked it would be positive by now. This was our first donor embryo I'm at a loss why I am not allowed to be a mum

I feel your disappointment XX but... there are plenty of success stories of people who tested positive quite late in the 2WW so hang on in there.

Also, now you're on the donor route, your chances of success have shot up - it's not a guaranteed every time but you're so close - don't give up now just when everything is falling into place XX

I’m so sorry there is absolutely the change be so early for it to turn around (by Friday it should be accurate) but if it doesn’t all I can say is it’s defo not anything you have done or didn’t do and you are trying so hard you should be proud of yourself xx

Not sure medichecks would be any faster than gp especially over the weekend.

I guess the main reason the clinic wants a blood test is so that if it's positive then you can do a repeat test to check the HCG level is rising nicely. So like you say you could even do a day 8 test then if that's positive do another on day 10. This is actually what I did and worked well.

One other thing I would say - if you do two hcg tests, I would do with the same test provider if at all possible - weirdly they do vary clinic to clinic which in the early stages can really throw off the % increase numbers! I had one result that was completely out of whack with the others and that was the only one from a different test center.

If I may reassure you somewhat through my predicament: today is my OTD and I will come to the last of my prescription for progesterone pessaires this evening.

Regardless of the outcome of my test today, my clinic (I’m in France) do not prescribe progesterone beyond the TWW. So I have no option for upping/continuing.

Really? I find it so confusing why there are differences between clinics and quite stressful reading about it wondering if you're doing the right thing. All you can do is follow protocol and trust the process but it's hard especially when you've experienced loss . Wishing you a positive outcome today thinking of you x
