Egg collection straight after FET - can you do this?

I had a failed FET earlier this week - third so far, two of them PGT tested.

I want to do another egg collection asap.

My consultant told me beforehand that would be fine but she is now off on long term sick. Got a new consultant yesterday who also said yes, that is fine, and put together the protocol which was very similar to the last one. It involves me taking a small dose of a steroid, dexamethasone at the start of the cycle.

I asked how that would interact with the other steroid - prednisone - I am weaning off of from the previous cycle. She paused and said actually, better off to wait a month.

Has anyone done anything similar and got any advice? Will prednisone compromise an egg collection?

Trust your doctor - she knows your history and has wants you to have the best possible treatment regime that is suitable for you.

Take care

Janet, I appreciate you are trying to be helpful but if you'd read my post properly you'd have realised my consultant does NOT know my history - she is new to me, missed out an important bit of information that I had to remind her of, and if I hadn't mentioned it we would be taking a very different course of action.

You'd also have realised that my previous consultant who did know my history (and prescribed the prednisone) told me that it would be fine to start an egg collection straight away.

So I think saying I should just 'trust my doctor' is not very helpful. I have two doctors who are contradicting each other, one of them is on long term sick and the other one has clearly not read my notes properly.

Wouldn't it be a lovely world where if we all trusted our doctors and never questioned them we would all get what we wanted. I'm sure that happens for a lot of people, but for a lot of the people who end up on these forums it's because, like me, they have trusted their doctor, not questioned them, and their doctors have made crucial errors and omissions.

In future maybe you could read posts properly before cutting and pasting your boilerplate and patronising 'trust your doctor' message.

Hi Advice forJane. My feelings are that it is good that you are weaning off the prednisolone, as stopping it abruptly can trigger a reaction. The dexamethasone is obviously to quieten your immune system so it does not recognise a developing embryo as a foreign body. Fingers crossed this will work and your womb will be happy to accept and support your embryo. Good luck! Diane
