Withdrawal bleed after egg collection

Hi all,

I had an egg collection on Wednesday 10th July. They mentioned that I should have a withdrawal bleed between 5-7 days if it’s any later it crosses into the similar time frame as my period is due. I took Buserelin as my trigger.

Can anyone explain if this would the beginning of a new cycle? I’ve had to freeze all due to OHSS.

Any information on withdrawal bleeds and periods after egg collection would be greatly appreciated.

hello Lilacfi! Like you, I had a freeze all cycle and Buserelin as trigger shot to avoid OHSS.

I had a bleeding 10 days after the egg collection (which was such a relief as my ovaries were quite swollen - I have PCOS).

I believe you won’t bleed twice as egg collection technically happens after ovulation. I didn’t bleed twice after the withdrawal bleeding.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Did your clinic put your on progesterone after ec? I have never had a bleed so soon after ec. My clinic does progesterone for 7 days after so with my ec on the 6th July, I'm not expecting a bleed until Sunday or Monday this week. Amazes me the differences in clinics and protocols!Hope all went OK for you x

hello so i had my ec on the 24th . 7 days later i got a bleed i have pcos so had to use a buserellin trigger for ohss .

So this bleed they count as the withdrawal bleed and then they want your body to heal and recover . And then the next bleed you get (if you have pcos like me , i hardly get periods on time ) so they will induce my bleed a the end of the month for the fet cycle if you are ready x

Hope that helps

Hi Lilacfi, I was triggering with buserelin due to risk of OHSS, the withdrawal bleed doesn't count as a cycle, we started prep for FET from the next bleed. So with timeline I had egg collection on 20.11, withdrawn bleed on the 26.11, then my cycle got really unbalanced and I ovulated late, got my period on 01.01 and from then we transfered on 16.01 so realistically you can look for transfer 6-8 weeks from egg collection. But it all depends on your body, cycle lenght etc

hi! I think everyone is different but in my case they told me that bleeding from the withdrawal only happens sometimes and would be very light. It’s not a period, it’s just residual blood from the procedure because some tissue might have minor damage. I had bleeding 6 days after the procedure and it was my period. It was very light because of being shorter (the EC prompted a period a bit earlier than my usual cycle). And then my next period came about 5 days late at the end of that cycle! So EC was short and the following was long, probably for everything to recalibrate. Then the following was back to normal and that’s when I did first FET. So I didn’t even get any withdrawal bleeding anyway

Hope that helps!
