Hi are you having full or part sedation? Full sedation in my first round was lovely, same as Lizzie, felt like a lovely sleep. Second time was part sedation, was kind of weird, felt really trippy. Was a bit painful, but just felt like I was dreaming it rather than it actually happening! If that makes any sense at all 😄 I was totally fine after each just a bit of a dull ache like someone had been poking round in there (which of course they had!)
My EC was similar. I was sedated but awake (conscious sedation) It was a bit painful at one point but I told them and I was given more pain relief through a drip in my arm. It was just uncomfortable after that. It was all over in about 20 minutes and then I was wheeled out for a cup of tea and biscuits. It is totally doable although I know it’s scary. You’ll be fine 💪🏻 xx
Oh maybe they did that with mine Tugsgirl i remember kind of moaning a bit and then don't remember much after that! Either way they were both fine. Don't worry Fiz23 you'll do great xx
Mine is called conscious sedation as well, and I do know that I moved myself onto the trolley afterwards but I only remember doing this once out of the four times I’ve had conscious sedation. They tell you the drugs they give you at my clinic and mine has been various combos of alfenyanyl, midazolam, propofol, and ondansetron. Just in case anyone wants to look them up!!!!
Egg collection went well, got 14 eggs of which 6 fertilized. But unfortunately none of them got to blastocyst stage. So its back to the start. Just waiting for the follow up phone call in march now. Really hoping that we can start again ASAP.
I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work this time. Make sure you ask about the fertilisation rate- my clinic says 2/3 fertilisation is their expected rate so when we only got 1/3 in our first round we knew we needed more investigations.
14 was a fantastic number to have been collected but sounds like you need to improve quality - have you been advised to start taking anything? DHEA and ubiquinol have made a big difference to my egg quality between 2 rounds so ask your clinic about DHEA xxx good luck for next time!!!!
Thanks. No i havent really been told anything. Hopefully i will in March.
I see you ET went well. Fingers crossed the good news continues for you.
I’ve had a couple so far. Both were fine and once it’s done you just need some rest and a bit of TLC.
I remember being nervous waiting, seeing the other ladies going for theirs and then being brought back all sleepy. Out of the 16 ladies (including myself twice) I’ve seen (being in the clinic at the same time) all egg collections went fine.
Try not to let it make you too nervous. Good luck!
I was super nervous too. I worried about the diclofenac suppository, the canula and pain. Had my first one on Monday-I had sedation but don’t remember any of it. The canula (drip) was fine and a great little sleep. I was tired afterwards and some lower abdominal pain in the evening. I went to bed early after some takeaway with two paracetamol and slept through the night. I have felt bloated afterwards but it is improving day by day- I was fortunate enough to have several eggs so was at risk of over- stimulation afterwards so bloat symptoms vary.
Aww... you’ll be fine. I was super nervous too, but it wasn’t too bad. I had a nice sleep and woke up to tea and biscuits 🍪 was walking a bit funny afterwards, but after a day or two, I was back to normal xx
With all the injections you’ve done it will be a piece of cake! I think everyone feels a little nervous and I’m sure that’s normal! Just remember to drink plenty of fluids and rest after as the anaesthetic will make you feel tired for the rest of the day! And most of all good luck, it’s the start of the exciting part x x
Thanks for all your comments. Its nice to hear from people who have been through or going through the same thing. I think it must be conscious sedation for me from what i can remeber them saying. Theres alot to take in in each of the appointments, especially when learning about the injections. I just keep saying to myself that it will all be worth it in the end.
