Immunology and hysteroscopy biopsy

Hi everyone,

I have 2 FET BFN so just met my consultant and persistently asked to do some investigation for repeated implantation failure. I am being given a blood test and a hysteroscopy with biopsy for my lining. I went for the blood test, 7 vias collected but nothing indicated on the labels that I could tell except for one said "immune". Am I right to say that they are testing for immunology and NK cells?

I am also given a hysteroscopy to check my lining and take a biopsy for any indication of inflammatory on the surface. I am on the waiting list for 8 weeks... this is done on the NHS hence the long wait. But I am willing to wait before another transfer because there is so much uncertainty and can't just waste another embryo. For this hysteroscopy test are they checking for infection or are they checking for NK cells?

My consultant said they can add clexane and steroid for my next round even if these tests come back with normal (said 90% came back normal), it is non evidence based but it is what they can add for me. This is my last round on the NHS so I am willing to throw anything at it.

Could you share your experience if you have done these tests?

As far as I understand, Hysteroscopy is checking any polyps, fibroids or scar tissues. I also want to get the test done if I am able to FET.

Hi Midsummer_daydream. Yes, it looks like you are being investigated for NK cells and imunne deficiency. Also the hysteroscopy will tell your specialist all about your womb and the biopsy about the lining, so all good stuff. Often something like heparine or low dose soluble aspirin can be the next step as already mentioned, to ensure good blood flow to the womb and its lining and hopefully prevent any clot formation. The prednisolone helps to calm your immune system in order that you don't recognise your embryo as a foreign body. Hope all goes well next time once your tests etc are done. Diane
