Hi everyone. Bit of a weird one that I'd love your thoughts on:
Has anyone had a natural FET with no progesterone at all? I had progesterone pessaries for my last FET, which ended in an early miscarriage. We've switched clinics and they were happy to test my progesterone levels (other clinic said it wasn't necessary). I've just heard today that they're absolutely fine so I won't need any extra progesterone for the transfer. My level was 49 and they want it to be over 35.
Obviously I'm pleased my levels are fine, but feel a bit nervous about having none given the miscarriage 🤷🏻♀️

Hi, I've had 2 natural FETs. The first with no progesterone, they also tested my levels on transfer day and they were only just at the amount they wanted. This unfortunately ended in a MMC at 8 weeks following 4 weeks of spotting, although I don't know if this was anything to do with progesterone levels. My second transfer i insisted on progesterone for peace of mind more than anything, and I am currently 17 weeks and just weaning off cyclogest now. I have still had some spotting from week 10 to 15 even with the progesterone so I will never know if it made any difference but it certainly made me feel slightly less anxious.
Sorry if that isn't a massive amount of help but if it would make you feel better I would ask your clinic again. Good luck with your transfer x
Thank you, I think I will ask again. Even if it's just for peace of mind, like you say. Congratulations, I'm so pleased to hear your 2nd transfer has worked 😀
My clinic said I didn’t need progesterone for my natural FET. I asked for it anyway because I had bleeding from 9dpt last time (fresh cycle) which ended in a miscarriage at 7weeks. But they don’t think it was progesterone issues 🤷🏻♀️ They said testing was pointless though, so I’ve got no idea! So I’m just taking it for peace of mind. From your username we are potentially based on the same place (Bristol?) so could be the same clinic. Good luck! xx
Yes, we're in Bristol! Was with BCRM but didn't have the best experience so have just swapped to Care Bath. How about you? I think I'll ask again about the progesterone. Didn't spot before my miscarriage, but was taking pessaries so maybe they prevented that. So hard to know whether to challenge or just go along with what the clinic recommend!
I thought that might be the case. We are with BCRM but haven’t had a great experience either. This is our last frostie so if it doesn’t work then I think we will definitely swap clinics. How have Care Bath been so far??
Yeah it’s impossible to know who to believe/trust. Each clinic/consultant seems to have their own ideas and are so sure it’s the “right” idea. Makes it impossible to know what to do! xx
I've just had a natural FET and I too was nervous. They didn't test my progesterone first either. We got a BFP. It was good to know that any symptoms couldn't be down to any drugs.
I have pushed for progesterone in my natural FET and I’ll have both pessaries and lubion due to potential of a progesterone issue. I had to push and question despite in our initial consultation the consultant having the exact same thought process as me. They prescribed me PIO for my fresh cycle although I never made it to transfer so it was baffling to me.
If it would make you feel bette re would ask for it. Good luck!
