Egg Collection and Eyelash Extensions

Please can anyone tell me if they had eyelash extensions on during egg collection? I know you cant wear make up perfumes nail varnish ect.. i have acrylic nails and the nurse said to just remove one nail on my left hand for oxygen level checks, but not sure of lashes are allowed, my appointment is monday morning so i wont beable to get them removed professionally intime and they are really difficult to remove myself, i can’t call the clinic to ask either because they are closed all weekend. I wish they told me at the start about not being able to to wear nails and make up, but they only informed me a day ago and i stupidly didnt even think to ask about the lashes, and now im panicking.

I think you should try to remove them yourself, to be honest. I'm sorry they didn't tell you earlier about no make-up etc. - last thing you need! But you don't want to turn up and have them say you can't go ahead...

They told me the no make up was so they could tell the colour of your skin and false nails like you said to monitor oxygen levels so I’m not sure if false eyelashes will be a problem, give them a little phone though and check.(I was just sedation not anaesthetic though) I know I’ve defo had them on for transfers but can’t remember if I had them on for egg collection though. It might depend if they are big daisy the cow ones as I call them 😂 or shorter ones close to natural lashes xx

Ive never even thought of this! I’m currently day 5 of stimms and my clinic havent mention anything of the sort. I also have lash extensions (god love em!) and won’t be taking mine off, although after your post I will double check with my clinic.I cant see why extensions would be an issue, like comment above, its probably used for oxygen levels etc and they cant tell much for your eyes so I wouldn’t worry too much about it, try not to panic x

I’m a theatre nurse. You’ll be fine! You’re only lightly sedated for egg collection anyway. If you were having surgery under general anaesthesia it can be a slight issue because your eyes need to be taped shut to protect them, but even then we just warn patients they might lose a couple of lashes. Believe me people wear them all the time for surgery! Good luck with EC xx

I had my lash extensions still on when I had my egg collection a month or so ago. Didn’t affect anything x
