Wondering how important is the grade of egg and how much is your body/general health?

This is an impossible question!

But I am due to start the process of our final frozen embryo transfer!

(We had a transfer 4 years ago from the same batch that didn't work)

We have a 3 year old that miraculously arrived the month after the last failed transfer.

I am 41 now and wondering how caught up in egg quality I should get - trying to keep as healthy as possible this month as I prepare for the transfer maybe next month - medicated.....

Been unexplained so far.....

Generally speaking the single most important factor is maternal age at egg collection. So I think you are at an advantage here with having embryos from a younger age. And there is no harm in trying to get well and healthy.

Honestly there are so many factors involved into getting pregnant that makes you wonder how the human species exists! There's egg quality and maternal age, there are hormonal factors, uterine issues, male factor environmental/life style factors (smoking, diet etc) immune issues, long term conditions..the list is very long.

Good luck!

I know - it boggles my mind. Things I never knew before I started these crazy fertility journeys.

Suppose as Diane says just keep healthy as possible and hope for the best! X

Hi EB. All down to what your hormones were doing at the time your embryos were created. Now you need to prepare your body with a sensible diet and varied food. A little exercise and no alcohol or smoking, all to keep your womb and lining in oprimum condition ready for transfer. Let's hope this will be your time and a sibling will nestle down where it belongs. Good luck! Diane

Thanks Diane. We are so blessed as it is. So afraid to hope for 1 more. We haven't had a good experience 1st time around with IVF, but could be lucky this time who knows.......x

Oh good luck! I’m 41 too, had my lovely now 6 year old through IVF (first go) then have been trying to give him a sibling since! My last round was nearly 2 years ago and we had one embryo to freeze which I had implanted today 😊

I’ve got to be honest - I didn’t ask the grading I was just thrilled to have an embryo. Maybe I’m wrong but I think if the doctors didn’t think an embryo had a chance they wouldn’t implant. Wishing you lots of luck x x

Wow sounds very similar to us. We have 1 solo one left too!

I feel very grateful to have anything frozen to use.

Scared to hope it could work for us - but we will try our best.

Let me know how it goes for you! Best of luck! Xxx
