How important is sticking to the daily water recommendation ?

Hi all,

My clinic recommended I drink 1.5 litres of water MINIMUM per day during my egg freezing cycles as it "feeds the follicles".

I am one of those people who don't really love water, so it's definitely been a change! I know it is a good habit to get into regardless....but how important is it to stick to? If I had a few days of drinking say 500 or 1 litre would this impact egg quality?

I found my water requirement jumped to 2.5-3L on stims. I felt thirsty if not. You could use a nice low sugar cordial to make it more palatable.

The way I see it for how much this whole process costs and puts you through I would want to make sure I did everything they asked me to do. Last thing you want is to regret you didn't follow the instructions from them x

My clinic didn't tell me to do this (I've not heard of it) and my frozen cycle was the successful one! I don't think I will have drunk as much water as that. But still if that's what they advise I think it's best to follow it x

I'm surprised it's only been recommended as 1.5ltrs in all honesty. My clinic states 3litres. As someone else suggested, if water isn't your thing then perhaps try mixing it up with the occasional glass of low sugar squash or add some slices of lemon/lime/grapefruit/cucumber or some springs of mint to your water to add some flavour. You never know, you might find you start enjoying water after all.

I think 3 litres is major overkill tbh....there is such a thing as drinking too much!

Completely understand this when it's not the norm for you. They've said it's to help with side effects of the stims especially bloating and to help prevent OHSS but OHSS wasn't an issue for me either. Personally I think it did help with bloating though. I should have clarified that I'm only speaking from experience of 3 fresh rounds of ICSI so maybe it's different with egg freezing. I wish you all the best with it and your future fertility endeavours!

I think it's to help stop you from getting hyperstimmulated, which apparently feels horrible! Find other liquids you do like - coconut water, herbal tea?? etc. Do your best, it'll be worth it overall

That's interesting! One nurse said it "feeds the follicles" so I have been stressing myself out I will get less eggs/less good quality.

Over stimulation don't think can be an issue for me, I get 6-7 eggs each time and I have low AMH...

Trying my best to stick to 1.5!

I wasn't told this at my clinic. In my first round I got 7 blasts, 7 fertilised and 5 got to day 5 (resulted in my LB) cycle 2 was 10 eggs, 9 fertilised, 3 made it to day 5 and currently 38 weeks pregnant. Saying that, if my clinic had told me to do anything I'd have followed their instructions to the letter. I think what made me feel better, throughout my 6 transfers was knowing I'd done all I could so if it didn't work I couldn't blame myself. I'd try to follow your hospitals suggestion as it'll make you feel better going into EC etc and you won't have the what if feeling

Those are amazing stats! I am only egg freezing, so cannot tell whether my eggs are any good which brings its own stress. First round 6 mature second round 7 mature, third round end of this month and they are starting me off on 225 iu of Fosti and Merio, before I did 150 iu of one for 3 days before they moved me up so hoping for some more eggs this time
