Hey, I’m after for some success stories and reassurance as I’m panicking. On a normal month I get brown discharge normally 8-5 days before I’m due on my period it’s very light and it’s on and off. Always been told it’s no concern and it’s old blood coming out. However, the day of my FET the nurse said I had old blood but it was coming from the cervix and not inside uterus so it was nothing to worry about. However the brown discharge has continued, mainly when I go to the toilet and wipe. It’s not pink it’s light brown beige. I’m only on 2dp it was a 5 day embryo. Do you think it’s over before it’s even started and this will impact implantation ? Anyone else had this and been ok? I’ve had no other symptoms except sever hayfever which I’ve never had, and a dull empty stomach feeling which is probably my anxiety Xx

Brown discharge before and after FET - help
Brown discharge as you say is usually from some old blood coming away .Keep an eye on your temperature , just in case you have an infection starting . Or it could just settle on it's own .If still worried let your clinic know - that will maybe help put your mind at rest .Take care

Thank you for your reply. I called the clinic same day and they said same as you it’s old blood and they were not concerned. I was having the brown spotting before transfer so I know it’s nothing to do with the FET itself, but I’ve just done a hpt and got a positive and now I’m panicking 🙏😔
Hi hun, I always had the same in my normal cycles, easily would have spotting 10 days prior to my period and I always thought lack of progesteron production, but then because with an FET you take progesteron that never happened. It could indeed be the cervix irritation perhaps in your case?
If you are worried I would ask your clinic and maybe they can check your progesteron levels and adjust the medication if needed? That would be my first question. Also not sure which progesteron you are using but I found using Cyclogest rectally was much better than vaginally as it irritated my vagina and cervix while using the back passage I had none of this. Might be worth a try if you are taking pessaries? Again ask your clinic or course depending which one you are taking if it is Oke.
I hope above will help settle your mind and brown old blood doesn’t have to mean it is over yet. I keep everything crossed for you!
Hi, thank you for your reply. It’s so odd but I get it every month without fail, and it just so happened it started prior to my transfer. I’m not ok pessaries this time round, it’s injections. I just think why am I getting period symptoms whilst on progesterone, is it high enough dose. But my clinic doesn’t seem to be worried. I had a CP on cycle 2 and had brown spotting then, I’ve just got another BFP today so I’m now panicking it’s going to end the same way. This is my 4th transfer and first ever fet 😔🙏🤞🏻Thank you again xx
I always spotted/had brown discharge 5-10 days before my period; went to loads of different gynaecologists over the years as it didn't seem right but my progesterone day 21 was always fine to high so they said it wasn't that - best I got was 'that's just the way your womb responds to your hormones'... I was still always convinced it was the reason for our struggle to conceive. I also got spotting on one of my two chemicals after fresh transfers. Before my first FET I got some brilliant advice on here and also started reading up on progesterone resistance/oestrogen dominance - seems progesterone levels may well be fine but womb cells don't react correctly and/or oestrogen overrides the effects - it explained a lot for me. Apparently different women with it react to different forms of progesterone and I was advised to use the vaginal pessaries and injections for my first FET and it worked. May have been chance and possibly not the reason for your spotting (I also got bleeding from cervix while I was pregnant btw) but worth getting your progesterone levels checked and asking about extra support just in case. But don't panic that it's too late as it may be nothing to do with progesterone and even if it is my clinic just asked me to increase my dose and that was a few days after transfer.
Hey, thank you so much for taking the time to reply. It’s soo reassuring to know I’m not alone and it’s maybe more common than I think. I’ve always been fobbed off by the dr and been told it’s normal and nothing to worry about but I’ve always thought deep down maybe it also has something to do with my infertility. I’m going to call my clinic today and tell them about my positive test and see if they will give me a progesterone test, it’s not something they do but I don’t even care if I have to pay. As long as it settles my mind. Also reassurance to know you had spotting during your pregnancy. I have woke up with quite a few symptoms today which i didn’t have before today so I’m taking this as a positive sign. I’m 6dp and my boobs have just ballooned over night and woke up feeling very odd. Also no brown spotting on my first wee so fingers crossed it’s eased off🙏🤞🏻 Xx
Glad it helped. I don't think it's normal to get spotting before a period, but when my progesterone levels came back ok the doctors would just shrug - maybe I should have seen an endocrinologist or a specialist and it has left me feeling that I may have wasted years when the solution could have been so simple, but that's water under the bridge now I suppose. I pushed my clinic to do the progesterone test on the day of the FET, but my GP was also willing to do it on prior transfers and after transfers I used an online company Medichecks, so you may have other options if your clinic won't test. My consultant said you can't have too much progesterone so if you're worried about your levels it may be worth asking if you could use the pessaries too to cover all bases. Fingers' crossed it works out.
Thank you for your reply. I actually have loads of pessaries left over from previous cycles so I might just ask if I can start using them as well, like you say it can’t hurt and you can never have too much. I know I feel a lot like you, I should have queried it more all them years ago but I didn’t push enough and now it’s too late. I just have to pray this is my time 🙏 xx
