Anyone had success on 3rd attempt when over 40

Anyone over 40 had a successful ivf on round 3 . 1st attempt all eggs 4 fertilized but only one went too blastocyst on 2nd attempt no eggs fertilized. Really want to do a 4rd attempt at the same clinic. But am concerned as they say from last 2 tries have a low ovarian reserve.

Hey, I'm over 40 - had success on my first cycle, second transfer. 43 now and hoping for luck on my third cycle. My fertilisation rate declined quite a bit, and it could just be that I'm older or maybe the change in protocol. Are you on max stim meds? Good luck 🙂xx

Yes I was and eggs didn't fertilize . Now been told to take DHEA for 3 months before go again.

Ok, on my first cycle and lower stims I had really good fertilisation, but then on my second I had max dose stims and only 3 fertilised out of 18 (23 mature). Might be worth discussing the stim protocol with your Dr. I've heard DHEA can have variable results - pos and neg. Good luck, I'm sure things will get better for you x

Can I ask how old you are, as I have a low ovarian supply off eggs only 4 follicles on each side producing 4 eggs I am wondering what iam doing wrong. Second go had highest meds but only follicles and eggs didn't fertilise.

Hey, I was 41 on my first successful cycle and 43 on my second (1 fresh BFN so far). It was hinted that the high dose stims might have affected my fertilisation. I think it's possible for eggs to over mature, which might affect quality. Every cycle is different, so it could be luck, or in my case age

I had success at 41, also low ovarian reserve. I ended up doing it naturally because IVF wasn't giving me more eggs than 1 each cycle anyway. Good luck.

Hi Georgejohn

I had success third cycle at age 41. The difference for me was reading “It Starts with the Egg” and taking the supplements recommended for advanced age, low reserve and endometriosis.

I’m now 43, had two failed FETs using embryos from that last cycle.

I decided to go back on the supplements in prep for a final fresh cycle but also tried naturally and got a BFP last Friday. Hoping and praying it sticks. 🙏🏽

Make sure your partner is taking supplements to improve sperm quality too as it could help fertilisation rate.

Wishing you all the best 🌈💕x
