I am currently in the injection stage if ICSI. I had my check up scan on Sunday and they said I have a cyst and a fibroid. They are not sure if the fibroid is just touching the end of my lining or not so they have booked me back in tomorrow with a doctor to have a look.
This is the first I have ever had either of these or anything really and I just wondered if other peoples experiences with fibroids during treatment.

There are three types of fibroids and the ones they worry about the most are the ones that impose into the womb itself so distort the cavity. I say 'worry', no one worries but often some clinics want you to have them removed before you go for treatment as they can prevent implantation and cause miscarriages.
I am sort of the worse case scenario but I had a fibroid that did distort the cavity by about 1cm, and my last clinic told me not to worry about it and it wouldn't cause any problems and would just move out the way if I got pregnant. Well I had various failed IVFs and some IVF and some natural pregnancies but always miscarried. When I went to a new clinic for a second opinion the first thing they did was refer me to a fibroid specialist who said that the fibroid was likely to be stopping implantation and causing MCs. He said if it was removed my chances would increase by 70%. This is after TTC for 8 years. I wish someone had told me it sooner! I think its great your clinic are being proactive about it. Hopefully it won't be causing any problems and you can crack on. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! Good luck! x
I am currently 28 weeks after my 4th round of ICSI. There was a passing mention of “you might have a fibroid” by someone at the private clinic my 1st round of treatment and then no mention at any of my 3 NHS cycles so I had completely forgotten about it. I had spotting and cramps at 21 weeks after catching covid and so was given an extra scan to check everything was ok and try and find where the bleeding was coming from. Obstetrician found a 6cm x 4cm fibroid (which sounded huge to me, but I don’t really know) sitting on the outside of my womb which had ruptured she reckoned from all the coughing I’d been doing. I was told that if it was on the inside of my womb they would check it regularly as it can impact on a baby’s growth but as it was on the outside of my womb they wouldn’t do anything and would just check if it had grown or anything at normal scan appointment. As such, I would agree with Daisy1245 and say that it depends on where the fibroid is sitting and what size it is whether you need to do something about it. I would ask Dr for some more info when you are back and see what they recommend. I would also say that my obstetrician told me that almost every female over 30 will have fibroids at some point and that most will sort themselves so are not something to stress about. Hope that helps. X
