I have just found out I am pregnant naturally after 4 years ….. in that time I have had 2 miscarriages at 6 weeks. And 4 failed ivf cycles so decided to stop ivf.
I have left over cyclogest and thought whether it would be ok to take it to help.
What do you ladies think ? Is it safe ?
I have rung my old ivf clinic but waiting to hear back.

Hey, it’s worth trying to get an appt with your GP I’d say? With the new NICE guidelines on progesterone, I expect that GPs/doctors are going to be a lot more pro-progesterone, especially for those who’ve sadly suffered miscarriage. If you go via that route hopefully you can get prescribed a good prescription so that you aren’t relying on old meds which will end up running out? Hope it all goes well xxx
Congratulations! My consultant said you can't have too much progesterone (and I'm convinced that it was the extra progesterone support I got this time that meant this pregnancy stuck through the first trimester) but I would try and speak to your GP as soon as possible - mine was great about prescribing it and as another responder said, vaginal progesterone pessaries are now in the NICE guidelines for at risk pregnancies so you would hope your GP would be fine with this.
I was in a similar situation. I had a small bleed at about five weeks (it was completely fine and am currently chasing my two year old DD around the house 😂) they suggest that I take continue to take cyclogest and I did so until 28 weeks into my pregnancy xxxx sending you love ❤️ xxx
Congratulations! I am currently 21 weeks and took cyclogest up to 13 weeks after discussions with my clinic. I had had a previous missed miscarriage and I had read that the Royal College of Obs/Gyn are now recommending that progesterone could be useful in all pregnancies, not just those after fertility treatment, in the prevention of recurrent miscarriage. On that basis I would definitely speak to your GP or old clinic and see if you can get a prescription to take you up to 12 weeks (that was what I was recommended, it just so happened the odd number in the boxes took me to 13 so I used them all). Good luck. Xx
Thanks. It has eased my mind about taking progesterone and I will ring my GP on Monday and get a prescription. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xx
If it is in date and I remembered the dose I personally would definitleuly use it if it were me. I would also, while doing so, make an urgent appointment to see a private gynacologist/fertility doctor to ask for more cyclogest, at your old clinic if possible as they will have your medical history but with any gynae I had a recommendation for /specialising in this area. Where are you based? Maybe others on here could give you recommendations if needed by DM. All the best. Praying this one works out for you Xx
Yes I checked the expire date before I took them. And with advise from the nurse at the old clinic going for a blood test and can take it from there. I am based in London/ Hertfordshire. Thanks for your prayers xx
It's so encouraging to see you fell pregnant naturally after trying for years. I'm in a similar situation, still hoping it'll happen for us too. I wish you the very best of luck with your pregnancy 🤞🙏
Keep up hope and faith …. That was the only thing keeping me going when I made the decision to stop IVF. Thanks for your prayers….. hope you get your happy ending xxx
Hey congratulations and also very sorry to hear of your losses ( I’ve had 3 early losses and a late loss ) I conceived both of my daughters naturally ( after my third lap for endo) and I took progesterone till I was 12 weeks pregnant. Both girls are well. I don’t think it would cause any harm at all. I think progesterone is recommended treatment in pregnancy for ladies who have had a few miscarriages Xx
I am very sorry to hear about your losses …. Must have been devastating. But encouraging to hear you took progesterone and all was well with both girls.
