IVF success - but I’m so scared

Hi all,

I’m so grateful that my IVF round was successful and I’m currently 6 weeks and 2 days! But on Wednesday I had a 6 week scan and no

Heartbeat was seen and I had a little brown spotting (which has now stopped)! I’m so worried that at next weeks scan there will be no heartbeat - I’m going crazy!!

This has been a long 3 year journey and I just want this baby so much!

Thank you so much! I think we all go through so much on our IVF journeys that it’s hard to be positive! I just want this baby so much xxx

I remember this feeling ever so well.... but just try to be positive and relish in the fact that you pregnant and it is possible 😊😊

Hi waitingforbaby,

Firstly congratulations ❤️

The heartbeat doesn’t start until some point in the sixth week so don’t worry, you’re just a little bit too early!

I had some brown spotting around the same time, it’s completely normal and nothing to worry about. Brown is old blood and I’m now 28 weeks 😘

I know it’s really hard and you’re going to worry but just focus on the fact that right now you are pregnant and that’s a huge milestone xx

Thank you and no problem 😘

That’s normally why IVF clinics don’t do a viability scan until you’re 7 weeks as there is a risk of it being too early for a heartbeat and that can cause more worry! Next week should put your mind at ease 😊 xx

Just try to remain positive. 6 weeks is very early and most doctors will say you need to be 8 weeks before anything is conclusive. I think it’s best to go with the theory of it ain’t over til it’s over in this process. Wishing you all the best x

Sadly, this was me last October, no heartbeat at 6 wks...did another scan the following week and no change...miscarried my ivf twins. I pray your bub is safe and sound in there and that at your next scan you get a strong, healthy heartbeat! Xoxo

All you can do is hope for the best. Everyone experience is difficult. i had a similar experience in all my pregnancies. 2 being a miscarriage, 1 an etopic and currently my most recent pregnancy which im 23weeks pregnant. The first 2 had brown spotting and I went in to the doctor and at 6weeks there was no heartbeat. Doctor advised me to wait another week and come in for another scan but unfortunately the brown spotting turned to red blood pouring down. i then went back in and i was told i had miscarried. 3 pregnancy i had brown spotting that went on for weeks and cramps on my lower abdominal area was rushed into the hospital and had to get an operation done to remove they etopic pregnancy. My current pregnancy i had brown spotting that turned to red blood pouring down my legs on 3 different occasions and each time I was in tears assuming once again it was another miscarriage but each time we went in for a check up we found baby heartbeat and I was told he was fine and i had to increase my progesterone shots. The bleeding stopped at 12week which brings us to our 23weeks pregnancy. So you have to take it one day at a time you can't be to sure as to what they outcome might be. Take it one day at a time and don't get yourself worked up about situations you have no control of. All the best hun.
