Hi,
Transfer is done after a week of stress not knowing anything other than 9 embryos had fertilised. I didn't know if that number included any of mine, how many eggs were collected - nothing you would normally expect to be told.
Fast forward to transfer day and after waiting 2 hours to see the doctor, he still didn't have my details, he could only tell me that I had 4 embryos, 2 of mine which are compacted and 2 donor blastocysts. I then had 5 minutes to decide what to transfer as the doctor wanted to go for lunch. Well I didn't know. My gut wanted to put both of mine in, but I just can't keep doing this, so I made a snap decision to put one of mine and one donor in. I'm a bit numb from a week of stressing myself out not knowing and thinking the worst.
Anyway, the reason for my post is to potentially help anyone else thinking of doing this. I've attached a picture of the embryos transfered. One is a donor egg blastocyst, no idea what quality it is - you don't get that info. The one below that is my egg with the donors cytoplasm. Cytoplasm is not a silver bullet, it may help, but as you can see it's a long way off just donor.
The benefits of going to North Cyprus are the; costs which are pretty low, alternative treatments and the people are really nice.
The cons are; the service levels from the doctor, lack of individual treatment plan, lack of info on donor, donor matching is sketchy, doctor doesn't listen he knows best and the language barrier.
Knowing what I know now, I'd probably have gone straight for donor at a uk clinic.
I hope that helps someone.
Good luck to everyone.
