Food to eat after embryo transfer

Hi everyone,

I'm scheduled for my embryo transfer tomorrow if my tubes are clear 🤗 After a very promising start of treatment, things went downhill and this is the only embryo we got from our first cycle, so high stakes here!

I've been googling what are the best foods to eat to help implantation (sad to see cake doesn't because it's all I want to eat now! lol) but wanted your recommendations as I've read about certain juices here and there but I couldn't find more info about it, and didn't see a specific thread for it here. So far I got pineapple to help prevent blood clots.

Thanks in advance, and lots of baby dust x

Your one embryo is the dominant one, it’s the one 🙏🏻 My clinic have always said, eat as you normally do, plenty of water and gentle walks, keep the blood moving! I tend to eat warm foods after transfer, a nice chicken or lean beef stew. All the very best with your transfer x

Thank you, I booked annual leave this week so I can go on a couple of walks a day and just relax, hopefully that does the trick x

I wouldn't worry too much about food and diet as the embryo is made and I suspect it takes a bit of time for most nutrients etc to make a difference. But, I googled on my transfers anyway, and I think pineapple core was meant to help, I also went with lots of good fats and lots of full fat milk in particular (not necessarily a good fat, but I keot that up throughout pregnancy and had a pretty whopping baby so it didn't hurt!), and just adding in things that seemed healthy rather than taking anything out. I think I also drank beetroot juice and pomegranate juice, something to do with oxygen levels and maintaining a thicker lining. But equally I've had early losses or a BFN where I did similar so it can't solve everything, just may help and good for you generally.

Thanks, I've done my best having a healthy diet leading to this point, just feel like I need to do all I can so I have no "what ifs" if I get a BFN. I will look further into what you mentioned about oxygen levels 😊 x

for my daughters Fet I made her homemade smoothie of beetroot, melon and ginger. She also had homemade soup everyday (dosnt have to be homemade) and no ice cold drinks, she also had acupuncture which on her previous cycle she said was a waste of money … but on her FET she really did feel it worked … and it did, wishing u all the best for a successful transfer 🙏🏻

Thank you, smoothies are probably a good idea to get all the healthy stuff in one go! x

honestly I followed everything, pineapple pomegranate you name it I did it. The transfers never worked. The one that did stick. I ate and drank what ever I wanted minus alcohol … boom … baby. Don’t think to much about it. Try to relax and go with the flow xxx

I know, sometimes we try too hard and it's that stress that ruins everything! Thank you for your advise x

hi Peppy all the best of luck with the transfer tomorrow! I hope this is your lucky one x I’ve only heard of the pineapple (core), beetroot and pomegranate, and of course the urban myth is fries with lots of salt after the transfer. In overall I think is just about keeping a healthy balanced diet. Drinking plenty of water and walking is also recommended. I hope it all goes perfectly x

Hiya, I've read about the fries in here too but couldn't find the science behind it? Thinking if someone just made it up years ago to have an excuse for a maccies (which I think we all deserve after what we go through, to be fair) 😂 x

Haha you’re probably right , I read it was the sodium that helped absorbing fluids or something like that, but it could also have been McDonald’s who started the tale …

hi Peppy, hope everything has gone well today? just checking how are you feeling now with the embryo on board xx

Hi lovely, feeling like I'm carrying precious cargo! A bit bloated and crampy when I stand up, but felt a bit like that when they did the mock transfer a few weeks ago, so I think it's got more to do with the speculum being shoved in than the actual embryo 😂 x

Hi Peppy glad it has gone well ! that would definitely be from all the prodding, hopefully the embryo is now getting comfortable where it belongs and you can get good news soon, all the best of luck 🤞🏼 x

Eat any of the things suggested, all of the ones with possible research as they will likely make you feel good and in control... .. And then have that cake too and feel happy that you've got your embaby inside trying to burrow in for a 9 month stay! X

This! I totally agree! I also eat 3 Brazil nuts a day as I read that somewhere. Good luck! X

hi Peppy, good luck with your transfer today 🙏🏼 I’m also having a frozen transfer today. I have been drinking beetroot juice (my lining was ok but not amazing at my scan) having pineapple and Brazil nuts everyday. I’ll be having some salty chips from McDonald’s straight after - not sure if any of these work but I did them last time and they did! I also read keeping feet warm helps - not sure why but Iv got some fluffy socks to wear. Other than that just try to distract yourself, eat as normal and lots of fluids. X

I try to just focus on things that help promote relaxation and well-being. I take a relaxing walk, and and listen to music that uplifts me. My mom makes different kinds of soup and sends them over. Also, keep hydrated - lots of water and fruit juices.

Wishing everything goes well for you. xx

Very best of luck with the FET! I had pomegranate juice daily for the lining, Greek yoghurt with honey and walnuts and the obligatory chips (though I got the Nando's ones!) on the evening after the transfer :)

Hi Eloquentia - just wanted to know did you start drinking the pomegranate juice daily from the day of your transfer?

Hi! No, I started it in the run up to the transfer and then continued until around 12 weeks.

Hi, i hope you had a tranfer good luck, since i saw your post now only.I was too into what to eat n what to avoid but nothing worked when i stopped thinking got my first ever BFP which resulted in my beautiful baby. The only thing i tried new was Mc donald fries which i heard here on the forum ladies getting success from it so i beleive that works. No harm in trying. I wish you have your bfp..
