Fet transfer 5 or 6 days???

When they say transfer will be 5 or 6 days after positive ovulation test is it just in case it falls on a Sunday or is there another reason? Would effect the outcome either way? Nervous about the later transfer because my luteal phase is shorter,I know progesterone will help prolong it but I had a chemical last cycle and it was awful.

Thanks for any input 💕

I thought that the number of days was dictated on the age of the embryo. So 5 days for 5 day blast and 6 days for a 6 day blast. I might be wrong though xxx

You could be right lol I generally thought maybe If it fell on a day the clinic doesn’t do transfers but surely they work 7days because you can’t predict a cycle. 🥴 this fet stuff is all new to me feels like I am starting all over again xx

Hi Fudge,

I have been looking into this because this is my 3rd FET, after two seemingly perfect transfers which failed.

When I asked my clinic they said that the most important re: transfer date, is to have had 5 days of progesterone. They suggested speaking to the embryologist as they are the ones who time things! It might be worth you speaking to yours.

What I read pointed to most transfers being on day 5, but there might be some reasons for transferring on day 6. For instance, the window for implantation is sometimes shorter/ later in some women as you pointed out.

I wouldn't read too much into it. This is a minority of cases, and the studies recommend day 5 over day 6 as success rates are higher.

For those who really want to find out, there is a test for this. I believe it is called the ERA, endemetrium receptivity array, which can pin point your optimum time for transfer. I'm considering it but it is quite expensive, and my clinic is not a fan of tests.

Good luck in everything!
