When did you start baby aspirin or Eparin injections?

I am waiting to hear from the hospital about the blood tests for recurrent miscarriage, most are anticoagulant blood tests.

I have to do frozen transfer in December, when do you usually start taking blood thinners medication before transfer? I am assuming I have to start very soon if needed?

Hi hun, my clinic has me on some of my immune drugs and prednisone long term. But blood thinners not until the day 3 scan (start of the cycle) xx

I was about to start an FET but had to put it on pause, anyway they were starting me on the blood thinners quite late I think it was when I started oestrogen, but they had me on aspirin when I was down regging the month before x

Thank you ladies. So assuming my period will starts at the beginning of December (doing a medicated FET) I will start the eparin then and not in November? I am not taking anything right now x

Hi Francy, I started aspirin 75 mg once a day on day 1 of the menstrual cycle, same day I started the estrogen. I took the aspirin until the day before FET, then from FET Clexane 40 mg once a day. Xx

Sorry, I don't know how it works for an FET but for an IVF cycle I started both mini aspirin and heparin when I started stimulating. So 16 days of that and l then I stopped the day before egg retrieval + 5 days the embryos were in the lab and resumed again the evening of embryo transfer. I assume you can probably wait right until the embryo transfer as blood thinners kick in quickly, they don't need a build up and you don't even have a thick blood diagnosis right now. But obviously check with a hematologist if you can. In bocca al lupo for this round Francy!!!

Hi, I had a fresh IVF transfer and started my heparin infections the day of my transfer. I am currently 6weeks pregnant and due to keep taking the heparin until I am 12weeks pregnant. Seems from the ladies answers above that everyone is different.

Thank you all! Based on your experiences it sounds like I will start it right before transfer, there is time. I think transfer will be due mid December! Xx

My blood test results are not ready yet and I don’t even know they’ll prescribe anything. My I just lost a healthy boy and I want to beg them for some support! I need to go for FET with more peace of mind! Thank you for sharing you experiences xxx

I'm very sorry for what you've been through. My blood work came back ok for clotting disorders but I have very thick blood with high clotting factor (high haemoglobin), and after two early losses I wanted to do everything I could so I asked about aspirin for my FET - my consultant said he wouldn't prescribe it without a clotting disorder diagnosis and even then there are better meds, but one 75mg a day couldn't hurt. I took that from when I started the FET meds (no guidance from the clinic on that, I just guessed and consultant wasn't concerned) through transfer, and have continued every other day since BFP. I'm not sure it did anything but i'm scared to come off it now and it's apparently safe x

Congratulations on your BFP! Well I am not doing a transfer without some sort of support. I had 2 losses already probably not due to chromosomal issues (the second was surely healthy as we had him tested) so we have to fix something somewhere! I’m not a fan of medicine but I have to do something. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

I found out after my miscarriage that I had endometritis (not endometriosis, this is an infection/inflammation if the uterus). It's invasive to diagnose as they need a sample of the uterus tissue - but the treatment is just 2 weeks of antibiotics. Something to ask about because it can cause miscarriage and infertility! All of my clotting tests came back normal.

And why did they think about checking that? Did you have symptoms?

No, nothing at all! I did a hysteroscopy to make sure all the miscarriage tissue was gone and they took a sample of tissue since they could see something. I'm not sure how common it is, I have an appointment tomorrow and am planning on asking since I had 3 failed transfers as well. I've heard of people in the US going on antibiotics before transfers just in case they have this so I'm a little disappointed it didn't come up before this.

That’s interesting, i can’t wait to speak to them. Did your transfers fail or like me you had miscarriages?

I had 3 failed transfers, and then a miscarriage. 4 transfers in total :( .

I am currently on blood thinners at 33w4d pregnant. Before I fell pregnant I was gearing up for my second EC and my FS said I could start taking baby aspirin whenever I felt like it. But clearly follow the advice of your FS! I had a stockpile of baby aspirin ready in the pantry to start taking because it was cheap and easy to get compared to all the other IVF drugs. However, if it looks like you have thick blood (I presently do) then if your next FET is successful you will likely get A LOT more medication, monitoring and scans - with a lot of interest in how your placenta is functioning. I had no idea that would be a thing. 🤷‍♀️

Good luck FrancyItaly. I hope the results come back really healthy and positive for you. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am desperate for meds and hoping it will make a change next time! I hope you are doing ok hun xxxx

I think meds can make a big difference but more importantly...knowing there is something there that needs to be carefully monitored. I really hope your next FET works out for you 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞and that your clinic does a lot more monitoring. It can be exhausting but our heads have been so put in a blender by IVF that the worry is alleviated a little bit each time a scan comes back with the baby looking good. I'm doing as well as I can. Xxx

It is, going for another transfer knowing I am having no support and I might have another loss! Let’s see what they say, I feel like I’ve been waiting for this call for months! Xx

I took 75mg from when I started the medicated transfer cycle and was on it right through until 12wks, when they found I had high BP and now I'm on 150mg! good luck x
