ICSI: 6th cycle failed

Hello all fighters,

Just received bad news again and again. Today is day 5 and none of embryos made it to blastocyst.

Egg collection: 18 and only 9 were MII, unfortunately 3 fertilised and the best we got today is 1 early cavitating grade 2.

I’m 42 with AMH 2.4 and FSH around 4 but eggs are of bad quality (hard shell, dark spot) and husband’s sperm are 100% abnormal (quality, quantity, shape). I have no tear but really really devastated. Each of the last 2 cycles ended up with 1 embryos containing chromosomal abnormality.

Sending my support to all of you who are sharing the same battles.

So sorry to hear that, it is heartbreaking news, I know it's early to talk about such things but could you consider donor eggs? sending big hugs to you x

It’s such a tough road to travel. I’m sorry this round didn’t work out but I really hope you get your baby from your next cycle 👏💕

Totally understand how u feel. We have just started round 3. Last round was a total bust but keeping faith for now 🙌I honestly feel like everything is possible but it’s such a personal decision to know when the time has come to end the journey or go for DE.

It’s so much harder for us over 40 but truely believe if it’s meant to be it will be 💕

I really want to be positive like you. Actually each round ended up with heated argument with my husband, blaming him for bad quality of his sperm and I wanted to give up. I don’t know how many more time till I give up?

All the best and I will keep praying for you🙏

I’m actually not feeling too positive about this cycle. My specialist has me on a high dose of meds again which didn’t seem to work last time. He wasn’t sure why. Got lots of eggs but only 2 fertilised.I’m just going through the motions.

I think I have it in me to do a couple more after this cycle and reevaluate then.

It’s always the thought that maybe the next cycle will be the one 🙏

I’m definitely sure that next cycle you will be the winner of this battle. I wish nothing but the best result for you🙏🙏🙏

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've also been through 3 fresh cycles with no results. We do have one frostie from the this cycle. But my previous cycles the embroyos were chromosomal abnormal. We havent checked this one and willing to take that risk. Atm I'm having difficulty in getting my linning to correct measurement and had another cancelled cycle. This journey is really so hard. Big hugs and prayers for you xx

Many thanks for your kind words. Yes, it’s very tough journey but we won’t give up easily, right? I hope your doctor can find the way to solve the lining issue. I will pray for you 🙏🙏🙏

Sorry to hear this!

I’m also 42 and we decided to do a donor egg round in round 3, after two failed rounds using ICSI, our second round we had the two remaining embryos PGTA tested and they were also chromosomally abnormal

it was then that we decided to use my 30 yrs old sisters eggs - we are now 27 weeks pregnant- best decision we made, as I don’t think we could keep going through the heartache. My husbands sperm wasn’t 100% he had morphology issues, only slightly at 4% they required 5%

Good luck on what ever you choose to do next

Many thanks for your message. And congratulations on your big news.

Unfortunately my sister passed away a few years ago so we have no choice but keep using my own egg till we are lucky or give up.

I wish you and baby the best of health.

Thank you, sorry to hear that.

depending on where you are there are donors around, the rules are different in each country. In the uk the child has the right to know who their biological donor was at the age of 18, in countries like Spain etc the donors identity is anonymous so that could be an option for you

Thanks so much for the insight info. Another problem is my husband is totally against the idea of donor egg. Plus my country Thailand has very strict regulations when it comes to this issue, a lot of headache 🤕I am very happy for you though we live in the other side of the world.

Take care and stay safe from the virus 🦠

I am sorry for the news… don’t loose hope! Have you considered “natural or modified ivf? My friend got pregnant using low atoms instead high dosage? It focus on the quilate of the egg and not the quantity. Maybe is something to look for… also she had frozen transfer and not fresh, after ERA test

Thanks for your encouragement 😊 Yes, this time I changed the clinic and doctor put me on lower dosage than previous clinics and she also mentioned the same thing as you said. However this formula didn’t work well this time as out of 9 mature eggs only 2 are considered of good quality. Or because of my age 😝 so eggs are too bad.

I wish you all the best success on this journey.

Hello, just came across this post...I'm same age as you and planning to undergo another treatment in June.

I am in a similar situation and was wondering how things are developing in your case.

I seem to have eggs, some of them making it to blastocyst but none of them stick, so probably the quality is not good, as indicated by my doctor. Also, at the moment we are both taking ubiquinol, not sure it will make a difference but it is worth giving it a try.

Anyway, I would be happy to hear from you.

Best wishes xX

Hello there,

Thanks for your message. My progress is still not pregnant 😂 Now I already did 8 cycles. Cycle 7 with 1 blastocyst and PGS test normal, finally he stuck but only for a week with very low hcg. Cycle 8 ended up with 3 blastocyst but none survived PGS test so failed again. Each cycle around 15 eggs were collected but very low rate of blastocyst only 1-2.

We are in the same boat as I also have poor quality egg plus severe male factor. My husband has been prescribed with women hormones to help improve sperm quality. Anyhow will go for cycle 9 soon 😅

I wish you all the best in this journey.
