I’m 36, no known problems, but male factor infertility. Had ICSI Oct 2020, but was a freeze all cycle due to OHSS risk. 6 embryos in the freezer. Had FET March 2021, got BFP but miscarriage at 5 weeks. Had FET Aug 2021, BFN.
So, what next?
I’ve pencilled in another FET for later this year… but should I go for another Fresh Cycle?
My thoughts were that we’ve got embryos to use… the first transfer at least was “semi-successful” in that it attached…
I got bad OHSS last year and was in hospital for a week and off work for 5 weeks… so I’m wondering if this has meant my eggs are poor quality? But if they were would we have got to blast stage for freezing?
If I do this next FET do you think I should ask for any changes? If so, what?
Also struggling with anxiety/low mood which is probably why I’m second guessing the decision which I thought we’d made.
Thanks for reading and any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Phoebe, I had to do a freeze all cycle after my second ICSI cycle due to collecting so many eggs and concerned I’d get OHSS (got a BFN for the first and none to freeze) I managed to end up with 5 good graded blastocysts, they transferred one which resulted in my little boy, I had another transferred a couple of months ago that like you miscarried at 5 weeks, I’ve recently had another transferred and very early days but got a BFP, so I’d say don’t give up on your frozen ones yet the other 5 could all result in BFP’s x
I think you should use the frozen ones and make it easier on you.
I think only reason to do a new cycle would be if needed to do one soon because you are older and don’t have many eggs. But your ovarian reserve should not change that much in short period of time. Neither your husband sperm. Good luck!
I transferred 2 frozen and 1 stuck. I was told it would increase chances if 35 plus also used embryo glue which they say can also slightly increase chances of sticking. X
Hi Phoebe I'm really very sorry to hear about your recent cycle, that is gutting 😪 It is amazing though that you got so many to blast, although the OHSS sounded traumatic so I am sure you wouldn't want to rush back into another cycle. I assume you didn't do pgt-a (?) in which case these may have been genetically abnormal embryos, even at 36 a proportion will be abnormal. Which means there is a good chance there is a normal one left in your frosties 🤞 you could do as Lucy suggested and do double transfers. And if that didn't work for you I'd recommend pgt-a on another cycle as it really makes a huge difference knowing what is genetically normal, especially when someone makes a many blasts as you do 🧡 Lastly I assume all looks good with your uterus and lining? Maybe some checks there if the docs thought it would help? Really hoping your next transfer is the one 🤞🤞 sending you big hugs xx
Hiya,No we didn’t do any testing on our first cycle. It was NHS so add-ins were limited. Doing the genetic testing is on my radar if we do another fresh cycle… I just have in my mind that my blasts may be abnormal as I was so over stimulated? Although my clinic have reassured me that isn’t necessarily the case.
I guess I’m not sure what to ask for next in terms of testing. I guess I just need to see what the outcome of this next transfer is and go from there. I just wish every step didn’t take as long as it does.x
