FET second baby

Hello, just wondering if anyone has had an FET after having a first baby via IVF and how long the process took since the embryos are already there. My daughter is 1 in October and I have 6 frozen embryos stored. I had an FET with my daughter due to OHSS but I can’t remember from the start to finish how long the process was x

Hey lovely,

I had an FET in August after having my daughter last year from IVF (she’s one next week).

I started estradiol tablets on day 2 of bleed (22 Jul), had a scan to check lining on 3rd aug and everything was fine so started progesterone the following afternoon and had my transfer on 9th Aug xx

Wow that’s amazing congratulations . I was so lucky to fall pregnant on my first cycle with my daughter I am hoping my experience will be as positive as yours! That’s good to know the process is pretty straight forward too! Did you transfer 1 or 2 embryos? I transferred 2 with my first cycle but I will definitely be doing 1 this time 😂 x

I just transferred one! Mine are PGS tested so they only let you transfer them one at a time. I can’t quite believe it’s worked but also fair warning, it’s tough when you have a little one already! The estradiol tablets completely wiped me out, I was so so tired I could barely function and I don’t remember that at all from last time so definitely try and get some help if you can. Once I started the progesterone it got better. Now fast forward to 9+2 and the nausea is awful 😫 it amazing how quickly you forget how awful this part is! Hoping it eases off at 12 weeks 🤞🏻 Xx

Oh I hope it gets better for you! Thanks for heads up. I remember feeling pretty tired and nauseous till about 15 weeks. I felt amazing till about 25 weeks then all it went down hill 😂 x

Hi Lucyhannah. Depends upon whether you want to do your FET on a natural or medicated cycle. If the OHSS you suffered was due to PCOS, then they may prefer for you to have a medicated cycle for better control. Both could be started on your next period, as you would be paying - which would mean minimal waiting time. Good luck! Diane

I didn’t have a baby yet. All my embryos - I had 3 - were frozen. They don’t do pgs testing as standard in the U.K. but I had good grades. So the first was 5AA I did estradiol and progesterone pessaries in the same way as someone suggested below. I also had to have a baseline scan in the month before to make sure it was all okay. Sadly my embryo didn’t make it. So i changed up protocol. This time I cut out caffeine I went for acupuncture and I didn’t take estradiol but relied on my body to create the lining and triggered ovulation. My body has been more thankful for it and this time my 5AB has implanted 😀. Early days and anything can happen but so very much hoping it will be a happy tale

Hey! My daughter was 14 months when we started out FET process- I was on estradiol for 2 weeks then had a lining scan, then transfer a week after so just over a month including 2 week wait! Now 31 weeks! Good luck to you 🥰
