Hello, help everyone’s doing okay.
Just a quick one to ask how uncomfortable this is... or perhaps not at all ? I believe the biopsy from the womb lining can be more accurate than blood test alone.
Thanks so much

It's really not that bad, and over quite quickly. Good luck x
Hello, oddly I actually had my first uterine biopsy for NK cells last week. The good news is it literally takes 10 seconds for the actual biopsy so over super quick. To be honest I did find it painful, but totally manageable. You'll be absolutely fine.I took some painkillers about an hour before the biopsy and I'll do that again for the second one (it can't have been that bad as I'm going back for more!).
Thanks for replying, can I ask why a second is needed, is that usual ? What do they actually do / how is it carried out ? This has been rather thrown at me by our consultant post consultation so I’ve not had a proper description of what it entails ! Glad any pain is very fleeting ! Just like a sting or something ?
Where I'm getting mine done yes they routinely do two biopsies, usually one month after the other; the Dr said it's just because results can fluctuate a bit from one month to the next so it's to help them get a more accurate picture (it's actually part of a research project so I think it may also help them get more accurate data for that too).
It was very quick overall, they just put a speculum in (as they do for a transfer, or for a smear test) and then put a very thin 'implement' (not sure what they're called?) in to the uterus to collect the biopsy from the uterine wall. The only part that hurt a bit was the actual taking of the biopsy from the uterus lining, but I genuinely wouldn't worry as it is so quick, and really is ok pain wise. If you were worried though (which is totally understandable, I think we've all been through enough prodding and poking at this point!) I'm pretty sure they had gas and air available for people who wanted it.
They timed the biopsy quite carefully, so they asked me to track ovulation, call in on the day of my LH surge, and then they booked the biopsy to be 7-10 days after that.
All that said I'm not sure if they do it exactly the same everywhere (mine's being done by the University of Warwick), but I'm guessing it's got to be pretty similar.
All the best of luck, here's hoping the tests are helpful for both of us.
It was horrible. But they are giving my gas & air tomorrow for the second one! Ha! It is over quickly but I nearly passed out with the pain. My hycosy was the same. Everyone is different and I am likely a wimp! Xxx but I still did it! And will be doing it again tomo
I had a biopsy from my uterus for my NK cells.. the pain wasn't that bad, i felt crampy. But it's really quick and over within a few minutes.I took buscopan before to help with the pain.
I don't regret that test. As I got my first ever positive after that test, they prescribed prednisolone as my levels were high. 10 weeks pregnant this Sunday
You got this 💪x
The feeling is the same as bad period cramps, but only for a moment, so nothing we aren't used to. I think it was from reading something from Hope_1234 that I heard about taking buscopan, so I did the same thing. I think it really helped, because I didn't find it too bad at all. I got four biopsies from different places in my uterus at the same time. My doctor was shocked that I was happy to keep going.
You'll be fine! Good luck. x
Ah thank you great tip
