As title states my results are in. I rang and the receptionist said consultant has written a letter to me My levels are at 12 ideally clinic says they need to be under 10. And will require treatment to resolve this.So I will need to take this letter to my fertility cliniic where my GP referred me to next month. I know there are mixed views in the medical community over nk and whether it affects fertility. So I hope to god that my consultant believes in nk blood tests and can treat this π. There are so many things I'm unsure of right now. But one I am sure is that I'm so glad that I saved up and had this test done ( even tho I don't have a "valid reason"). One step closer to helping us have our much wanted baby!
Good luck to you all. Hope your dreams come true π
Thanks hollibob. X 've just been refered to an NHS fertility clinic for investigations( to be honest I'm doing a lot myself to save time) and see where we go from . If the consultant doesn't agree then I'll ask him to recommend someone that can help. The way I see it is if I don't sort the nk out any treatment will fail. I know regardless I will have to pay for steroids as NHS will not fund it. Obviously it would much easier if my fertility consultant would issue a private prescription we will see π
How are you anyway? What's the latest? I hope things are going well X
I totally understand and you have to feel like you are doing something constantly to get to your end goal.
What area are you in?
I did some research on pricing of IVF drugs outside of the clinic, so just remember if it comes to paying privately for other stuff, as long as you have a prescription you can buy elsewhere to save some pennies.
Our tests all came back fine.
We've been having fertility reflexology and she's been more helpful then some consultants. She flagged something from hubby's perspective which none of the original investigating Drs or IVF clinic bothered with. He's had another sample analysed and a culture which showed a bacteria infection and he's had a course of antibiotics and will be retested. A bacteria infection can affect the sample, so hopefully another thing ticked off.
We were going to have another round in August, but now my mind is split...do we wait the 3 months for the sperm to regenerate and potentially my AMH level drops even lower or do we just try. We'll be paying privately too...
You are not kidding haha! It's one thing after another!
Glad your test results came back clear you must be relieved to know all is fine. Sorry to hear hubby had an infection hope he is ok. Glad it has picked up on esp if it'll make a difference on his sample. Brilliant. Can amh decline that much in the space of a few months? (I'm no expert). If it was me I'd wait till my hubby results are better to give us a better shot at it and keep trying coz you never know! (esp if paying). I can totally understand that you are raring to go (especially as like me you have for medical reasons had to take time out to run tests). I hate making decisions! Always thinking what is the best thing to do arrrt makes you wanna screammmm! Obviously you must do what is best for you. Only you know.
I live in a small town in North Dorset. I will be attending Salisbury fertility clinic under the care of mr Shaun Fountain. We are lucky as he is the leading consultant there and he insisted that I had to see him! Hope that "he " can get me nice and pregnant πππ»
Good luck with whatever decision you make and keep me updated. Love to hear your progress X
Hi I'm just starting my treatment in Salisbury. I'd be interested in hearing from someone who's further along in their journey. How did it go? Hope you got the result you wanted!
I got a prescription for steroids for nk cells from my GP, no issues at all. Just gave them a copy of the letter from the test centre which detailed recommended action. It also gave recommendations for what to do in the case of ivf.
That's great to know. I thought as it was not a test that NHS run you'd need to pay privately. Did your GP recommend you to have the NK test? I decided to do mine myself. The consultant has written a letter recommending the need for treatment as my nk is higher and goes on to state where it needs to be. Will ask tho no harm. π I'm assuming that I could run my steroids along side any fertility treatment. Good luck with everything. And thank you so much for the info very helpful X
I was referred to a consultant obstetrician for recurring miscarriages and she recommended that I did it, but it is completely private so still have to organise it yourself. Then I just passed on the letter to gp and fertility consultant and there was no issue with following the advice or getting a prescription for any of the drugs. The only different with ivf is that you take the steroids from day of ET rather than waiting for bfp. Btw my level was 16 and the professor I saw said 5 is max level for "normal". As far as I know, it doesn't cause an issue for fertility, but can cause you to miscarry. It was the best money I ever spent along the journey! Good luck with everything, sounds like you're on top of things so hope everything gets moving for you asap. Xx
Thank you. I am very pleased I had mine tested ππ» think high nk attack embryo so yeah I guess it is a miscarriage risk. Not too long to wait πX Good to you too Hun. Sorry to hear of your losses that's really sad. Hope the nk treatment helps you have your baby X
Thank you. I'm 12 weeks now from FET and everything going well so far. Not sure when I'll start to relax and feel like it's actually going to happen, we're just taking one day at a time. But I wholeheartedly believe the treatment has helped so I'd definitely recommend. Xx
Lovely news. Big congratulations X gives me lots of hope so thank you x can understand the worry X I don't think the worry ever stops X all the best with the rest of your pregnancy X
Will def take my letter to my consultant and I'm sure as another consultant has advised treatment he will comply π thank you for the reassurance nice to know the NHS can treat it once they have seen the evidence haha X good luck with everything hope you get a positive soon X
I have had a failed fresh cycle and failed FET- currently 3dp5dt with two embies on board on my second FET - no eggs left.
My fresh and failed FET were done with nhs and unfortunately have used my goes up so we have gone privately where I had my NK cells test done- mine too came back high. Through this cycle I have had one intralipid fusion and have been taking clexane and prednisalone (steroid) to try and reduce my levels. The itralipid was given to me day before transfer and I have been taking clexane and prenisalone since I ovulated. When I had my review with the NHS for them to discharge me they told me they didn't offer the testing as there was no solid proof that it helped- but I thought why not give it a go??
It amazes me that this test is not recommended to couples about to embark on treatment. How can they say it doesn't help? There is much evidence that suggests it dose. I'm so sorry that to hear that you have suffered two unsuccessful rounds of IVF. Really hope that the treatment of your nk helps you get your BFP ππ». My appointment is next month so not too long to wait and I've got a lovely holiday in Spain with hubby to look forward just before thought it would help "relax" me haha! X
Tell me about it there is so much research and my nhs hospital just shot me down and said they didn't offer it as no solid proof! So I paid for my own testing and treatment for it! Fingers crossed your hospital is a little more helpful and sympathetic!
Oh holiday before sounds lovely!!! Just what you will need before treatment x
Hey βΊοΈ It cost me Β£350 for the first one before transfer and if i get pregnant have to do another three at 4, 8 and 12 weeks (same cost for each one total of Β£1400!!) expensive but hopefully it works ππ»ππ»
Thanks for responding βΊοΈDef worth it if all goes to plan, and you know you don't have to be thinking the what ifs etc. Which clinic did you use? May have to ring them βΊοΈ We could stretch to that amount just, good old credit cards! I hope and have my fingers crossed for you to get your bfp! Xx
I'm down in Surrey place called newlife they are really good actually. Really happy with them! Only thing with private is you expect to pay a certain amount and it's always another Β£50ish extra π Oh well as long as a baby is the outcome I don't mind βΊοΈ Will you be taking any other medication like steroids etc? Xx
Ar your a bit far away from me! I'm up in Cheshire. I had steriods with my last cycle (1st cycle) but sadly a chemical so thats whats got me thinking about the lipids xx
Well it's worth a shot!!! Anything is worth a try!!! Sorry to hear about your chemical- hopefully with the right medication next time round I pray it works out for you ππ»ππ»
Hiya i know this is an old post but im about to start ivf treatment at salisbury fertility centre. What was your experience like with them? I had a lap last year there, and dr umranikar was lovely. Im excited but very nervous about the injections, do they use the pens or proper syringes? I have a fobia of needles and made them numb my hand before the surgery!! Im such a wuss. Hope you can help put my mind at rest xx

I'm at Salisbury but I haven't had IVF-i can't answer on that front.
I have had 4 rounds of clomid there-they didn't monitor me and I have now got suspected OHSS-my GP has ordered me an urgent ultrasound scan to see what is going on.
I have spoken to the IVF nurse over lots of things and found her to be very good.-technically I'm not a patient there-I'm part of the infertility clinic. It's good she replies to me.
I have even emailed her over my GP concerns over OHSS she got in touch with my consultant-who isn't in Salisbury till tomorrow-she went above and beyond. I would feel safe under her care-she is lovely π
I'm under the care of mr fountain- we were impressed meeting him-he took his time and explained things so well-he's also very funny!
Giving you a heads up here-his secretary isn't great- she was rude and not interested in my GP concerns. And potentially she put my health at risk.
Once mr fountain found out about possible OHSS he tried that morning to call me-and asked the nurse to get my mobile number.
I have found the consultants and nurses to be very good-Shame the office staff let them down.
Sadly I think that's the case with most clinics.
Afraid I can't help with the IVF stuff-lots of ladies on here will be able to give you good advice. I also have a massive needle phobia-I have difficult vains that hide from blood tests dosent help!
I wanted to give you an honest opinion of my experience there-the good and bad. I have tried to be balanced.
Do bear in mind my reaction to clomid is extremely rare. But nevertheless clinics should monitor any patient on clomid just in case....
It would be nice to keep in contact with you-especially as you're at the same clinic as me π
All the best -I hope it brings you a positive soon
X
