So confused…. Fertility rollercoaster. Do I ovulate? Any advice/ help would be great

Hey ladies, the rollercoaster continues. After a failed cycle in June and being told not eligible for another founded round of IVF, my AMH levels were re tested and increased so back on the waiting list but won’t start until next April. Randomly my AFC has increased too. I wasn’t sure if I ovulate so clinic did cycle tracking even though I have regular cycles. Last week I had a follicle growing, 18mm on Friday and positive OPK Friday and Saturday. Monday went for a scan follicle is gone, Dr assumed I ovulated so did progesterone blood test to confirm, but got results today and progesterone only 8. Nurse said it looks like I didn’t ovulate.

Waiting to hear back about what happens next but a bit confused. Was it an empty folicle? Shall I try another month of tracking or go to ovulation induction? Why did I have positive OPK but no actual ovulation? Anyone had this?

What should I ask doctors next? I’m NHS so communication isn’t great and I have to do a lot of chasing. I have low AMH 3.1 and AFC 8

Thanks so much xx

That’s great your AMH is enough for ivf again! Bummer you have to wait so long though!

It could have been an empty follicle. Do you ever have short cycles or bleeding that suggest you don’t make enough progesterone?

Hey purpledoggy hope your pregnancy is progressing well! I do sometimes have short cycles but dont usually bleed in between. Just feel so confused is it a one off empty follicle or do I have low progesterone? Or both? There is a trial in the clinic where they give you progesterone pessaries to take after ovulation to help when trying naturally so hoping I can try that but worry I am not even ovulating. Just feels like one step forward two back! Xx

If you have a luteal phase that is <10 days that suggests you are not making enough progesterone, for whatever reason, or not responding to it properly. There are actually some supplements that are shown (in proper studies) to increase progesterone so could be worth a shot. Vitamin C 750 mg a day and vitamin B6 50 mg a day. If your clinic are doing a trial with progesterone supplementation that might be good if they agree you ovulated but progesterone was low. TBH I think that is all I needed to get pregnant but my clinic flat refused to try progesterone and made me go through IVF instead 🙄 Obviously see what their thoughts are on the ultrasound and progesterone result. Who knows, this could be a quick fix for you!

I'm doing OK thanks lovely, all fine at the 12w scan and finally had my first COVID jab this morning. xx
