Natural modified ivf with ICSI
Hi Wintss. Just a milder approach that tends to encourage eggs that want to come out, rather than being forced out, so I am told.Just wanted to wish you every success with it all. Diane
Yes I did natural modified IVF with ICSI and my egg quality went from awful with less than 30% fertilisation, PGS tested abnormal embryos and 3 BFN transfers to 100% fertilisation, top quality blastocysts….and twins x
That’s amazing and encouraging to know you not only managed to get pregnant you also gained twins ❤️ So happy for you 😊 when you say your egg quality went from awful was that before treatment or going through treatment? X
A bit of both really - I had severalMiscarriages before IVF and then the 2 short protocol cycles I did showed my egg quality wasn’t great x
Many thanks for letting me know Im so sorry to hear you had several miscarriages 😞why does these things have to happen your twins must be even more precious to you ❤️ With the ivf did that take several attempts? X
Yes they are my mini miracles 🥰 - I also lost both tubes to ruptured ectopics and was ready to give up! I had 2 failed rounds of short protocol and 3 BFN transfers. Then my natural modified was a 3 cycle package so banked embryos from cycles 1 and 2 and then picked which ones I wanted to transfer after cycle 3. My twins were actually my lowest graded ones and I have 2 top quality AA blastocysts still frozen (if I can persuade husband to let me transfer them one day🤞)
Hi, would you mind telling me what drugs you took. I’m just about to start natural modified too xMany thanks x
Hi, i’ve been doing natural modified. i haven’t had success yet but it does seem like the best option for me as i’m a poor responder. what is your amh and afc? have you ever tried regular ivf?
Hi Mandp82 hope your doing ok- have you had many rounds of it? My last amh reading was last year which was 1.9 fsh 19.2 😞 had baseline scan which was showing only 2 eggs everytime else looked ok so I dont know if should just go straight to donor with how poor things are for me They said natural will be best option for me I’ve yet to start treatment I wish you every success in your journey 🙏🏻 Have you tried regular ivf? X
Hi. All the best for your treatment. Can you pls inbox me the clinic name for natural mild ivf? Thankyou
Hi wintts,
I did natural mofified IVF with ICSI. I am 45 years old and hubby 40. I had low ovarian reserve due to my age and an amh of 5.9. I have regular periods every month and ovulate very month but I wasn't falling pregnant after 2 years of trying. We were too old to receive anything on the NHS so went private and could only afford 1 cycle so therefore 1 attempt. Btw this is our 1st attempt at icf and icsi. After tests we found out my husband morphology was at 1% but sperm count was high. The consultant recommended we use donor eggs but that idea was alien to me and we decided to go in guns blazing and use my own eggs. We were told we would have only 1/2% of success. Had the stims everything went to plan. Retrieved only 2 eggs one fertilised and 1 didn't. Had a fresh transfer done on day 3. My egg was a grade 1 egg so top quality. Currently on 2ww. We find out in 4 days whether I am pregnant. All in all I'm glad we decided to go with this cycle and not use donor eggs as I was able to produce a top grade egg myself. I took alot of vitamins 2 months before to ensure the eggs were of good quality and so far I think it's paid off. I wish you all the best with your journey. Holla if you need to ask anything else. Good luck. xx
Would love to hear more. I'm 44 next month and unsuccessful with one round of ivf..
Hi, I just came across your post on my search for the same thing. I am 40, about to turn 41 and have endometriosis and AMH 2.3 and also high FMH. I am not eligible for NHS so had to go private which of course has been financially difficult. We signed on for a 2 round IVF package. We had to have ICSI as my husband has a low sperm morphology of 2% (but thankfully does produce enough sperm for ICSI). My first IVF was high doses of menopur. Sadly they only retrieved 3 eggs, and only 1 was able to be fertilised. I was hopeful as it was a 'top grade' egg and I had good lining. However, it was a BFN. I have just completed my second round using high doses of menopur and ovaleap (3 injections a day including the fyremadel which was difficult). Sadly, they were only able to retrieve 2 eggs, but again only 1 was able to be fertilised. It was also supposed to be a 'top grade' egg, but today I had the BFN. I know I should be grateful to at least had an egg to return, but I am of course devastated today.
Hence my search for the natural IVF as my Dr did mention this at our last appointment, but only briefly. My initial thought was to go for the high stims and hope to get more eggs, but now I have realised that my body just can't produce them. I know this shouldn't be a surprise to me due to my low AMH, but I read about others still successful with more eggs so was hopeful.
Anyway, I can't find much independent information on natural IVF - when I google search all the info is coming from private IVF websites who are biased because they are trying to sell the service. The little research I can find shows a success rate of only 7%, hence the NICE guidance do not recommend the treatment.
At this point I have no idea what to do because perhaps there is something causing the eggs not to implant. I've seen others suggest using donor eggs because of egg quality, but would prefer to use my own.
Anyway, nice to see a couple of people have had some success with this option, however, a bit concerned that there are not many responses from people. I would love to hear whether you decide to progress with this option. I am now faced with the decision on whether to pay for further treatments or give up. So far it's been £10k of treatment and over £4k of meds. I wish money didn't have to be a deciding factor, but sadly that's the reality of it.
