Hi anyone using donor eggs ? How does the protocol work ? Thanks I’m advance
Donor ivf : Hi anyone using donor eggs... - Fertility Network UK
Donor ivf
Different clinics do it different ways - you can do egg sharing or some clinics have donors who aren’t doing ivf themselves and just donate eggs for altruistic or financial reasons
What do you want to know? Not sure what you mean by protocol? For the donor or the recipient? x
Hi Daisy thanks for the reply . I meant the protocol to follow if you are the reciepent . I was told to take the ocp by one clinic and they would tie in with the donor cycle of egg collection . But some clinics ask you to take prednisolone as well . I wonder what works better ? Wanted to compare protocol cycles to prep yourself as reciepent . Historically I always have low progesterone and wondered if checking progesterone levels on transfer day or before was of any significance and what levels should be for a positive outcome . Thanks in advance
Hi Harley, clinics can have varying protocols depending on if you are planning a fresh or frozen transfer. They can as you say sync your cycle so that whilst the eggs are forming, collected and fertilise from the donor you prep your lining (bleed, take estradiol them progesterone) and you transfer on day 5. The other option can be to allow the donor to have her cycle, fertilise, grow the embryos then freeze the blastocyst so that in future you can bleed and prep your lining ready for transfer. If you have a history of low progesterone I would get yours tested on transfer day to see what your levels are and adjust meds as necessary (I'd you vanr get your results the same day then maybe test the day before). Some clinics like to have your body down regulated first so you are in the fake menopause, bleed then prep your lining. As you mentioned some clinics prescribe steroid cover such as prednisolone but that's not usually common practice. I think I've done most protocols so if you have any specific questions then I'm happy to help.xxx
Thanks Cinderella ! I’ve had 2 failed cycles ( one own one Uk and one donor cycle in Cyprus Dogus- was tandem cycle but none of my eggs worked past day 3 )
Had -4AA embryos but in day 5 - BFN
Now going for donor egg again but in Cyprus ( miracle ivf dr F) . Last cycle my progesterone was 23 on transfer day ( I insisted on it ) and 10 ( on transfer day 4) - I don’t know what can be done differently now to make them stick .
I’ve accepted the donor route but thought it would work once I opted for it after failure with own eggs- but was surprised that 3 great embryos didn’t work . I just know what should be different or what to monitor better ( progesterone being one of them )
Thanks in advance
I had DE too, my progesterone was also low before transfer. I had been on 2x400mg of cyclogest per day and we added in lubion injections daily to my protocol which helped push them up for future cycles. I was also on progesterone at my request as I felt it was worth trying and cheap. The other thing you may want to consider is an ERA which is when you do a fake FET prep then instead of embryo transfer they do a biopsy and check how long after starting progesterone you should transfer. Most ladies are 5 days (120 hours) however I was 6 days (144) before I was receptive. This is unusual but it was a game changer for me and we got our twins using this protocol. Its crap moving to DE and things not working isnt it?! I had quite a few failed transfers with very good quality embryos so I feel for you.xx
Hi Harley, I had an altruistic frozen egg donor which made it easier for my schedule as I had a long journey to the clinic and would not be feasible if I did a fresh egg donor. My clinic set me on 3x daily oestradiol on second day of my period and added 2x 400mg Cyclogest and 1x daily Lubion injection. I was really lucky and the embryo stuck. As you can read on all responses, we have different protocols and processes. Let me know if you need more information.
