Hi guys, sorry but I’m really new to this. I’m 36 and been TTC for 5 years. I’ve just been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure and told that IVF with my own eggs would be very unsuccessful. The clinic has advised me to go down the route of a donor egg! I am absolutely devastated!!
I was wondering if anyone of you guys have used clinics abroad for this and how you felt about it.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Feel free to DM me.
Hi hun! No, they never gave that option. I was just told that they will fund IVF if I can find my own egg donor. The donor needs to be under 35, have had children of their own and either finished or having a break from having anymore. Being 36, most of my friends are older or haven’t had children yet.
I also have a high FSH and low AMH so maybe that’s why. X
Sounds very similar to me. Do u know what ur amh level was? U should think about trying dhea before ur treatment anyway hun, u never know...but I may have to go down the same route as u as chance of me being successful is very slim...let me know how u get on with donor hun. Wat clinics r u looking at? Xx
Thanks hun. My AMH level was 1.1 and FSH was 11. I took DHEA, COQ10 and had 6 months of acupuncture but unfortunately my levels rose.
I was only told Friday that they weren’t going to treat me with my own eggs so am still kind of processing it. I’ve done a bit of research and am looking at Spain or Cyprus for a donor.
I’ve had emails from many clinics, it’s such a hard decision choosing one.
U have obviously have urself the best chance hun. Iv also been thinking about acupunctore but not sure wether to bother. Another expense 😔 I can understand how hard this is hun. Here if u ever fancy chatting. Will be following ur progress and keeping fingers crossed...remember the end goal...a family xxx
I’m sorry to hear you are going through this. I am in a similar boat and decided to go to Greece for Donor Egg. There are plenty of amazing clinics, many people go to Greece, Cyprus, Spain etc. I chose Greece primarily because of the clinic and because Greeks have more similar skin tone and hair color that match my profile. Anyhow feel free to DM if you need more info xx
Im a bit older than you, started at 38 and now Im 40. We had to move onto DE and chose to go abroad for various reasons mainly that it was a lot cheaper than the UK. Its a very hard thing to get your head around, you need to give yourself time to grieve for your eggs. Have you clinic offered to give you some implications counselling for DE? Might help to get your head around things. For us, my hubby was always all for it if need be but I did drag my heels a bit. After 2 failed transfers on our NHS cycles we decided to go for it and after seeing how well the donor eggs did compared to how my eggs performed its a no brainer for better success....although no guarantees. Good luck, ask any questions if you want to!xx
Well that is one of the benefits of going abroad, Im having treatment in Athens. We got 6 top quality blastocysts but didnt get a pregnancy on first transfer sadly. Preparing for new one but had some thing that need attention first, my thyroid is too high. I know if 3 other girls that had 1st time success (2 on here) and 1 on fertility friends.
Seems to be a running trend to have to provide a donor for your NHS clinic which is really tough to do. Really feeling for you, its a hard thing to get your head around!xx
I was diagnosed with the same condition at 32 took us over a year just to get our heads around the idea of DE , so glad we did because we now have twin boys (14m) which we got pregnant with on our 4th transfer with a fantastic Greek clinic.
Hi I had egg donor . I had the treatment in Barcelona . I now have a 9 month old baby girl. I was lucky it worked first time . If you would like clinic details let me know and I will message you . I wish you all the best😊
