Endometriosis and FEt

I’m 35 and due to hopefully start a natural FET cycle this month. This is my first attempt after my first fresh cycle was cancelled due to sepsis following egg collection.

Over the last 2 weeks I have been experiencing increasing lower pelvic pain consistent with my endometriosis requiring codeine and tramadol at times but following after my period.

My last laparoscopy was in July 2020.

I spoke to the fertility nurse who then spoke to my consultant and they have given me 2 options.

1. To continue as planned with the cycle

2. Get referred by my GP for assessment of my endometriosis as I have 4 frozen embryos

My first instinct is to continue with the current plan but as we have been waiting so long but then I am wondering if this is the right decision.

Can anybody offer any advice or experience that may help me?

Thank you 😊

Hi I would suggest for you to carry on with the current planned fet & see how you get on , as you say you’ve been waiting a long time & medical things are taking so long now.

I have endometriosis & am currently 23 weeks pregnant after second ivf attempt .

Before this ivf cycle my specialist advised me not to undergo any more laparoscopic surgeries beforehand & to go for ivf because of scar tissue & the affect more surgeries have on the reproductive system. So I went ahead & we were so lucky that our embryo stuck & worked for us after first transfer , I’ve also had no trouble regarding ( endo pains ) since being pregnant.

I know everyone is different but you never know if it’s going to work until you try so if you can manage the pain in the meantime id say go for the fet x

Hi

My specialist said : first let's get you pregnant, then we will worry about the endometriosis.

He is endo specialist in Leeds . First fresh cycle worked out for us. Now we are going for FET.

Hi Daisy. My last consultant said that one of the best ways to deal with endometriosis is to get pregnant, so we decided to plough on with our fresh cycles without further laparoscopies. If it’s manageable then I’d say hang on in there and carry on with the cycle, this only gets harder the older we get. Wishing you lots of luck 🍀

Thank you everybody, this just confirms what I was thinking.

Sorry I haven’t replied sooner I have just finished a night shift.

My pain has settled in the last 2 days so hopefully I am over the worst. I feel as though I have some justification for my decision when I speak to the fertility nurse on Monday.

Good luck and best wishes to you all on this journey we all share ❤️

I'd recommend an anti-inflammatory diet for your pain. Check it

At your age I was also debating surgery or going straight to IVF.

I went on an anti-inflammatory diet and it's been 4 years of pain free existence... bliss

My first 2 transfers failed ( 2018 and 2019)

My little precious baby boy and 3rd transfer is due next month

What's important now is the transfer protocol for your eggs as endometriosis can make implementation more difficult

I was down regulated the month prior to my transfer and the transfer was on day 6

I also had extra progesterone injections for 10 weeks before and after the transfer + blood thinners

Best of luck!

X
