Hello everyone! I just wanted to get a bit of help with my thyroid results. I had my TSH, T4 and serum thyroid peroxidase antibody tested and had a follow up on my hycosy with our clinic a couple of days later so chased my GP for the results. I got a text (from an admin I think) to say all fine which I then passed on to my clinic. But the following week my GP called to say my antibodies were high but as everything else is normal they don't need to do anything except monitor it because of family history of thyroid problems. I haven't been able to ask the clinic as I told them at the follow up everything was fine! We're not in treatment yet as not quite reached the 2 year point so need to wait now until my next appointment in August. Anyway results as follows:
TSH: 1.3 mu/l
T4: 16 pmol/l
Antibodies: 179 IU/ml (normal range 0-24.9).
Anyone any thoughts on this and whether it might be causing any issues?
I also had a bad emotional day yesterday so struggling a bit. I had a bad reaction to my second jab so was feeling pretty rough and then AF decided to join the party (on time and expected but still gets me down every month). And then our friends messaged us a scan pic and announced they are expecting their second. I know I can't stop life moving on for other people but it is so hard knowing other people can just decide to try and get pregnant when they want to. I took some time to cry and then said congrats.

I had my thyroid tested as part of my recurrent miscarriage investigation. I also had TSH and T4 within the reference levels (albeit a bit higher than yours), and slightly raised antibodies. I discussed them directly with the IVF/miscarriage consultant who, while saying it was very unlikely that this was the cause of my miscarriages (they also found out I had sticky blood), put me on 25mcg Levothyroxine/day (the lowest possible dose) just in case (he said that I should stop it after completing my fertility journey, whatever this means).
I think that from a GP point of view there is indeed no issue (as there is not for me), but I would show these results to your IVF consultant to see what they suggest from a fertility point of view.
This means your thyroid issue is autoimmune. You might wish to go gluten free - my antibodies were 90 ish and after going gluten free they came within range over the course of a few months. I experimented and put gluten back in and they shot back up.
My mum also has the same autoimmune thyroid issue and had severe heart issues. I finally persuaded her to go gluten free and her heart troubles are gone and she feels like a new woman. It doesn’t help everyone but gluten is quite inflammatory so worth a try! I went gluten free as having antibodies seemed such a negative thing when trying to conceive
