Hi ladies I just had my 3rd failed ivf attempt (4th if you include the cancelled cycle as only had one follicle).
I have low AMH and am a poor responder, I only ever get 1-2 eggs with ivf. Only ever got 1 blastocyst and ended in miscarriage. Have fallen pregnant naturally but ended in miscarriage. Sperm is all fine. My issue is my age 38yrs and dud eggs!
I’m considering doing ovulation induction I figure I’ll get the same chances (1-2 eggs) as doing ivf and considerably less cost and emotional torture. $700 vs $5500.
Anyone done this or in a similar situation. I’m burnt out, feel myself isolating from the world and really need to try something so I feel somewhat in control!
Thank you xx

I was in the same situation, low AMH and poor responder with just 1 follicle/1 blast per cycle. My husband had the DNA frag test done and he has super sperm lol, so I just switched to IUI. I got pregnant on 1st try but MCed, then got pregnant few cycles later with an at home IUI kit. 24 weeks now and I'm 42! I almost went with donor eggs but this pregnancy came at the last minute and it was a complete shock. At my age, out of 12 eggs only 1 is good, so I had to do year and half of trying to find it I guess. Good luck!
Oh wow congratulations! Always great to hear from someone in a similar situation. My partner has super sperm as well! Giving it a go. I was hoping they would try and at least stim me on same dose as ivf which was the max at 450 Gonal f but they’re only giving me 150 Gonal f, that’ll barely touch me as I only get 2 follicles on max dose. I really needed to hear a positive story like yours it does keep you going
They are doing the right thing because max stims won't produce more eggs with low AMH/poor responder. It will only fry your eggs I feel. Mild or natural stim is best for us. I took Clomid for IUI but didn't get more than 1 follicle either, so same poor result as with max Gonal f stims. After that I just went natural, since what was the point of pumping myself with meds just to get one egg, which I get every cycle anyway.
Hi Latetotheparty. It's worth a try, cheaper than an IVF cycle. As you say, you will have about the same chancxe, either way. Good luck with whichever you decide to go. Diane
Thanks Diane! I’m giving it a go. I just don’t know why they don’t stim me the same way ad ivf with max Gonal f dosage? I only ever get two follicles that way and chances of them both having a good egg is so minuscule given my history. I now feel like it’s the same chance as trying naturally not the same chance as with ivf if that makes sense
Hi, just wondering how you got on with ovulation induction?
I'm in a similar situation, low AMH, 2.5 failed rounds of IVF, recently was diagnosed with severe stage 4 endo, which i had removed in Jan, and am now trying 1 or 2 medicated ovulation induction rounds before going back to IVF. On letrozole and low dose gonal f (75iu). Would love to hear how it went for you!
