Just wondered if anyone else has gone through IVF whilst having Adenomyosis. I was only diagnosed with it a year ago by a private consultant via ultrasound however none of my most recent ultrasounds have picked up on anything via the NHS.
I am currently 15dp3dt and have started bleeding and cramping. Symptoms are pretty similar to my period however slightly less painful as usually I'm rolling around on the floor in agony. It's also alot lighter than my usual period. I'm still taking my progesterone as im waiting for my second beta hcg blood result but the first one was 48. I know its sitting pretty low and not sure whether to fully panic or whether this might also have something to do with my cycles being irregular. I've got a second test booked to determine whether its progressing (fingers crossed) or staying the same/reducing which i know would indicate a potential chemical pregnancy. I started preg testing at 10dp3dt...I started by getting really faint positive and although they are still faint they are definately getting gradually more prominent. I havnt yet had a super dark line yet.
I was just wondering if anyone had anything similar and whether you would be happy to share your experience. I know I have to be realistic that this is a chemical pregnancy but literally praying that it could just be due to the adenomyosis and that the beta on Monday doubles.

Hey, I was diagnosed with adenomyosis whilst going through IVF. They found it on my baseline scan. Unfortunately our cycle was zero fertilisation but our consultant said it wasn’t the cause of it. I have everything crossed for you x
Thank you. My test day was last Thursday were I tested postive but then started my "period" the following day. My hcg on Saturday was 45, so a bit low but I guess it depends on whether it doubles by Monday. I'm already taking 400mg of cyclogest 2x day so not sure if I can take more than that but will definately question it tomorrow depending on the result of the beta hcg blood test. I normally get really bad period pains and this feels pretty much like that apart from the cramps have now been there for three days whereas they usually die down after 1/2. Anyways keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. Thank you for yours suggestion...Will defo try and follow it up
Thank you. My nurses have agreed to increase my cyclogest to three times a day which is good news. Still bleeding and cramping but easing slightly. Beta HCG came back as 101 today from 48 within 48 hours, so its moving in the right direction but just taking things one step at a time at the moment. I've got an early scan and Dr review next week so fingers crossed they will be able to clarify what's actually going on.
What a roller coaster hey.

Hi I have been recently diagnosed with adenomyosis, I had 3 rounds of IVF/ICSI before finding this out as it was never picked up on my scans previously. I had a MRI a week ago which confirmed. My last cycle sounds pretty much how your current cycle is going, unfortunately mine resulted in a chemical pregnancy, which the consultant now believes is down to implantation issues due to the adenomyosis. Moving forward as I have had a couple of miscarriages as well, they have advised to treat the adenomyosis before doing a frozen transfer, as adeno can affect implantation.
I do hope your beta increases and it's just a slow in gaining momentum, wish you all the best for retesting on Monday.
Thank you for sharing. Good to know as I want to make sure I address any issues before moving forward and using my last frozen embryo. What sort of treatment are you having for your adenomyosis?
I will have a couple of back to back egg retrieval cycles before treating the adenomyosis, as I am nearly 40yrs it is best to get the eggs as soon as possible so they can be of good quality as opposed to post 40 yr old eggs.
I have been given 2 options based on the severity of the condition to either suppress the adenomyosis using medication (inducing menopause) for 3 - 6 months or consider having a adenomyomectomy. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do just yet, I am cautious about surgery as it can leave scar tissue which is also not indicative to a suitable environment to carry a baby full term. I will do more research while I have the egg retrievals and then decide, either way it seems that there is no quick fix.
Thank you for letting me know. I've just emailed my nurses to ask if they can test my progesterone levels and hopefully increase my dose from there. At the moment I'm close to running out of my current stash of cyclogest. Unfortunately there's a national shortage of it now so they've swapped my next prescription to utrogestan (think that's what its called) but its a lower dose so even more worried about switching to it now.
UPDATE Went in today for an early scan due to the slow rising hcg and bleeding/cramping last week (which has now stopped). My worst nightmare was confirmed...it was ectopic!!
Absolutely gutted. Just hoping that it can be managed conservatively.
Wish you all the best on all of your journeys and thanking you all for your support so far.
I am having IVF and have had two miscarriages now. Just been diagnosed with adenomyosis and on 3 month Prostap to down regulate and reduce the adeno before I try again.
